It is Harder to Preserve Than to Obtain Liberty

Since the presidential inauguration, long-existing latent rifts in the Republican Party have become noticeably more apparent. In his inaugural address, Bush said, “It is the policy of the United States to seek and support the growth of democratic movements and institutions in every nation and culture, with the ultimate goal of ending tyranny in the world.” As Peggy Noonan wrote in response, “This world is not heaven.” ………
