Why proposed net neutrality bill is the most extreme yet

While the latest net neutrality bill introduced in Congress has no chance of passage as drafted, it is a bay window view into how extreme the net neutrality movement has become and what they are seeking from the FCC via backdoor regulation.
The proposed Markey-Eshoo bill, HR 3458, which was drafted in close coordination with FreePress and the Open Internet Coalition, is much more extreme than previous bills in 2008 and 2006.
Why is this bill the most extreme version of net neutrality yet?
First, it is a completely unworkable framework.

Assoc. Press Downplays Townhall Anger

In an August 17 piece on former DNC Chair Howard Dean’s appearance on a morning news show, the Associated Press did its best to downplay the high passions and anger showed by thousands of average citizens at townhall meetings across the country.
Dean was heard insisting that Obama not back down from including the “public option” in any healthcare bill, saying that such a feature is “indispensable” to its success at reforming our healthcare system. After the opening paragraphs, the AP characterized the possible removal of the public option by emphasizing Republicans and downplaying the outrage seen by citizens themselves.
Dean appeared on morning news shows Monday amid increasing indications the Obama White House is retreating from the public option in the face of vocal opposition from Republicans and some vocal participants at a town-hall-style meetings around the country.
“Some vocal participants at town-hall style meetings,” AP? Anyone watching the news accounts of the townhall meetings over the last three weeks will see far more than merely “some vocal participants” displaying their disagreement with Obamacare policies. The outrage being seen at these meetings has been the hottest news item around for weeks. There is far more than “some” vocal participants.

Why Conservatives Get Sandbagged By Liberals

A few weeks ago the Weekly Standard had a ridiculously hopeful editorial about how President Obama couldn’t possibly go any further to the left with his next SCOTUS pick because of the ideological basis upon which they sold Justice Sotomayor. For the Standard, Terry Eastland was sure that the logic by which Sotomayor was sold to the country would preclude a shift leftward for the next court pick. Unfortunately, Eastland proved once again that too many conservatives simply do not understand that liberalism does not rely on logic or consistency , it simply barrels forward with no heed to reason. You see, liberals are powermongers, not logicians. They only care about what wins not that their logic is consistent moment to moment. Eastland’s complete lack of understanding shows why conservatives are sideswiped by liberals every time.
Eastland’s main point was that during the confirmation process, Judge Sotomayor “dissented from her sponsor’s view of what a judge should be” by presenting her judicial philosophy as one based on a strict interpretation of the law. This, Eastland notes, is in stark contrast to President Obama’s apparently long-held belief that a judge needed “empathy” to be a good jurist.
Eastland notes that in 2005, then Senator Obama voted against the confirmation of Chief Justice John Roberts “precisely because… the nominee came up short on the empathy measure.” Eastland then points out that early in the four-day-long confirmation process Sotomayor began “separating herself from Obama on the matter of empathy” and that her testimony eventually made explicit the difference between the nominee and her patron on that point.

Hennessey’s work confirms that the President doesn’t seem to really understand what he is selling. Either that or he simply doesn’t care if his claims are accurate, but that they sound good is good enough if it helps win him passage of his healthcare policies.
Starting off by debunking Obama’s constant claim that we can “keep our health plans if we like them,” moving on to Obama’s absurd claim that he doesn’t want to put “government in charge of your health insurance,” Hennessey does yeoman’s work exposing Obama’s false claims.
Here, for instance, is Hennessey’s reply to Obama’sclaim that we can keep our plans “if we like them.”

CBS is reporting that as many as 60,000 members of AARP have cancelled their memberships in the elder’s organization over the fact that the organization is moving to support President Obama’s healthcare plans.
CBS also reports that a conservative seniors organization, the American Seniors Association, is adding thousands of new members each week. Some of the letters asking for membership were filled with “cut-up AARP cards.”
(CBS) CBS News has learned that up to 60,000 people have cancelled their AARP memberships since July 1, angered over the group’s position on health care.
“I think that probably the seniors are most upset with cuts in Medicare,” said ASA President Stuart Barton.
The American Seniors Association is flat-out against President Obama’s plan, which calls for $313 billion dollars in Medicare cuts over ten years. The AARP is widely viewed as supporting the President.
Of course, AARP is claiming that this is no big deal and that the loss of members is a “drop in the bucket.”

Speaking of misinformation, here is a question, how can the MSM crow that the recession is over when 1) positive GDP quarterly results haven’t been reported. 2) the EIA is reporting we once again used LESS gasoline than the disastrous year before??? 3) Summer job hires were virtually nil. 4) The gross number of unemployed has not dropped in any month despite the statistical skewing of the unemployment rate due to the continuing reduction in civilian labor force because all those on unemployment for over a year are NOT being counted as unemployed. And 5) Tax collections revenue continues to nose dive.
What we need to determine here is what are the reasonable non-political indications a recession is over because we are not getting it from the MSM or the prattling fools in Congress desperately hoping to gin up a recovery in a vain attempt in talking up the economy. Just because you can talk it down, it does not follow you can talk it up. I think they are taking this “animal spirits” thing too far, expecting people to believe the latest story line that the economy is on the rebound. At what point is the assertion falsified (
Karl Popper )? Falsification is the logical process verifying an assertion or theory is sound. A sound assertion or theory must be able to be disproved by being mutually exclusive of contradictory occurrences such as claiming the plane is not crashing because the rate of speed isn’t as great as before even though it is still headed straight to the ground. It is contradictory to claim an increase when objective measures say a decline is still present. I suggest reading what Karl Popper had to say as it really does speak directly to the current situation with the liberal spin.
How can we show an assertion of economics to be falsified? What benchmarks would be appropriate to not be simply deemed a pessimist? What are the objective terms of measure can we present that are easily understandable and difficult to spin without coming off as propagandizing for one side or the other? The point here is to give the public the means to firmly suspend their disbelief in giving the benefit of the doubt to the current administration. It is the benefit of the doubt that gives cover to the multitude of rosy stories being told.

Columnist Robert Novak RIP

Robert Novak was one of Washington’s most insistent, influential, and indispensable journalists covering politics in America. But today his pen is silent, felled by cancer at age 78.
A long-time conservative and fixture in print and on TV both, Novak is one of the last “shoe-leather” reporters that worked sources helping him to constantly break high profile stories.
We all remember that one of his last big scoops got him in a bit of turmoil when he was privy to the Vaerie Plame story. That one became such a hot potato story for several years that at one point Novak stormed off a set of a news roundtable being broadcast on CNN in 2005.
Here is a short bio of his early life from the Chicago Sun-Times:
Novak was born Feb. 26, 1931, in Joliet, Ill., and worked at the Joliet Herald-News and the Champaign-Urbana Courier while a student at the University of Illinois. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War before going to work for the Associated Press, which ultimately led him to Washington in 1957. He moved to the Wall Street Journal in 1958 and began his column with Evans five months before John F. Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas.
We here at Publius simply want to say thanks for all the hard work, Mr. Novak and God’s speed.
Most Bankruptcies Because of Medical Debt? Uh, no.

Early in June The New York Times was all aghast that overwhelming debt from medical bills will cause “nearly two out of three bankruptcies” in the US. Since then the White House has also used the statistic as a way to sell Obamacare policies and frighten voters into accepting a nationalized healthcare system. But is it true? Are medical bills the culprit of more than 60% of American bankruptcies?
The stark claim that medical debt is the scourge of citizens everywhere comes from a study published in The American Journal of Medicine. Its findings are certainly alarming with an outrageous rate of 62% of bankruptcies being caused by medical bill debt, such debt supposedly having risen 49% between 2001 and 2007. If true, this is a disastrous finding.
But is it true? Not according to the American Enterprise Institute’s Aparna Mathur. Mathur finds a very different story when looking over the available studies and statistics. In testimony before the House Committee on the Judiciary in July, Mathur finds a far less threatening picture.

Only a few weeks before Senator Arlen Specter (Traitor, Pennsylvania) flipped back to his original party, the Democrats, he made all sorts of pronouncements on how he wouldn’t support the cloture vote to help pass the Employee Free Choice Act (EFCA). He blustered that he couldn’t support the bill and that he’d vote against it.
But now he claims to be a Democrat. Now he has told a group of left wing, nutrooters at a convention in his home state that he will vote for cloture and will vote for the EFCA.
If this isn’t a perfectly clear example of a most unprincipled man, what is? One minute, while he pretended at being a Republican, he says the bill is no good, the next minute, as he pretends at being a Democrat, he’s all for it? Where does principle and honesty come in?

Who better to inform us of how wonderful a socialistic healthcare system is than one who ran the very hospitals enmeshed in such a system? Well, the Wall Street Journal gave some space to just such a fellow in its August 12 edition.
Alan B. Miller’s piece in the Journal is enlightening and a bit scary, honestly. He assures us that “we don’t want to go the government route” and be foolish enough to institute Obamacare. And Miller should know, too, as he is the chairman and CEO of Universal Health Services Inc., a company responsible for running some of Britain’s hospitals. As we know, Britain has a nationalized healthcare system and has since just after WWII.
A single-payer system may appear attractive to some. But as someone with more than 30 years of experience running a leading hospital company with international operations, I have firsthand knowledge of the hidden costs.
Miller reminds us that Medicare does not fully reimburse hospitals for costs incurred by its patients leave 7 cents on every dollar unpaid. He then says that the reason Medicare “works” to the degree it does — while still a failing concern — is because the hospitals rely on those with private insurance to make up the loss incurred by Medicare. But if the whole system becomes a government owned enterprise we will have major problems; chiefly rationing and cuts in service.
If hospitals had to rely solely on Medicare reimbursements for operating revenue, as would occur under a single-payer system, many hospitals would be forced to eliminate services, cut investments in advanced medical technology, reduce the number of nurses and other employees, and provide less care for the patients they serve. And with the government in control, Americans eventually will see rationing, the denial of high-priced drugs and sophisticated procedures, and long waits for care.
Miller then points to his experience of precisely that situation in England.
He warns us not to emulate the mess that has happened in Canada and England. Let’s hope people are listening to actual experience.

The Washington Times has a great piece that coincides with several we’ve had here on the blog that shows that unions have become Obama’s healthcare shock troops. From the SEIU announcing its drive for Obamacare and sending one of its own to beat up citizens at townhalls, to the mountains of cash that unions have given to Obama and his efforts, to the AFL-CIO’s drive for Obamacare, unions have suddenly become the president’s shock troops filling audiences at townhalls and beating the streets for his policies.
Members of the nation’s labor unions have made up a hefty segment of the audiences that flocked to town halls Mr. Obama held in the past week, and they have played an even larger role in a nationwide campaign for an insurance overhaul. Financially, and with boots on the ground, unions have become the backbone of the president’s effort.
Of course, this hadn’t happened until that last week. In previous weeks, Obamacare opponents had held sway over the news cycle by protesting Obama’s healthcare ideas at townhalls across the country. But now the unions have kicked into gear.

One of the benefits coming from the recent congressional town hall meetings – of which there are many – is that we now know to what extent the elected class in Washington DC is cognizant of their constituents’ positions on the issues; specifically, healthcare. They aren’t, especially on the Left side of the aisle. Instead, the elected class in Washington – and it is true for an overwhelming majority on both sides of the aisle – has opted-out of their sworn duty to represent their constituents in deference to a blinding loyalty to their political party organizations and the ideologies they hold.
While many of the elected officials in question, their aides, the DNC, MoveOn.org, Organizing for America and the agenda-driven mainstream media talk about the “angry” and “vocal” nature of the town halls, they allude to the notion that the American citizens attending these meetings are not letting the elected officials speak; that they are “shouting down” the Congressmen and Senators as they try to explain a “very complicated” healthcare plan to their constituents. Nothing could be further from the truth.
To believe that the American people haven’t heard – ad nauseam – the plethora of contorted and contrived talking points meant to sell this gigantic over-reach of government into the private sector health insurance industry is to lie, bald-faced, to anyone within earshot.

The real victim of the run in between Harvard malcontent Henry Louis Gates and officer James Crowley may actually be the poor woman making the call to police. For her efforts at being a good citizen, she has been labeled a racist and received various threats. At least the policeman is permitted to carry a gun and pepper spray. At her press conference, she should have made it clear that this would be the last time she ever lifts a finger for anyone in her COMMUNITY.
North Korea has executed a mother of three for distributing Bibles. Perhaps Bill Clinton should have made a bigger fuss over this incident than the imprisoned journalists who did, it must be remembered, violated the borders of a sovereign nation. Multiculturalists often point out how much America has to learn from non-Western cultures. Perhaps we should start by emulating North Korean policies towards illegal aliens. Instead of lavishing border violators with welfare benefits and the like, we give them harsh prison sentences.
Critics of Obama’s healthcare plan should know that they are being watched. The White House is asking Americans to report to them the names of anyone spreading “disinformation” regarding insurance reform proposals. One might point out that, to a liberal, disinformation is anything they disagree with. When this call for ratting out your neighbors is coupled with the dismissal of citizens speaking out at congressional open forums as contrived activism, it seems the President is not quite the fan of “community organizing” that he heralds himself to be.
As much as he rides the issue, it causes me to wonder if there is some kind of profound unhappiness in the Albert Mohler household.

The Left Wants Obama to be Hated

Charles Coop, a blogger for CBS News, has returned from a much too short vacation and has chimed in with another prosaic opinion that has been making the rounds of the extreme left of late. Republicans and shadowy, behind the scenes right wing activists are ginning up “Baracknophobia,” Coop says. They are making hate for Obama the issue, not any actual discussion of his policies.
Of course, this is precisely what the left wants to be the case. They want Obama to become a personal object of hatred. The American left does not want any discussion about the issues because that would mean being forced to defend them. Easier to just brush off any opposition as that of hatemongers and lunatics. Leftists like Coop would rather see Obama placed in the dangerous position of being an object of hate as opposed to a leader of opposed views because it is much easier for them to take on the right with this as their background reasoning.
But what are the right leaning critics of Obama saying that would lead a lefty like Coop to conclude that personal animus is the argument against Obama? To find out we need a case to study to compare today’s political climate to. So, let us go back to the Clinton years (with a shudder, of course). Remember what was said of Bubba? Now if you want personal animus, try remembering what Bill was called. Among some of the most common epithets hurled at Bill Clinton were rapist, murderer, the prevaricator in chief, draft dodger. Those are personal attacks, not policy differences, for sure.
Now what is the worst that is hurled at Obama? That he’s a socialist? That he’s actually a Kenyan and not a natural born American? What sort of wimpy personal attacks are those? And be sure to notice that “socialist” is directed at his policies, not him. Even the claim that he isn’t an American doesn’t draw any disparaging conclusions about his actual heritage. Even if people believe he is a Kenyan and not an American there is no following conclusion that Kenyans are inherently bad.

Government Rules All it Surveys With House Bill

A fellow named John Lewis has put up on the web a few aspects of House Bill 3200 that raises many a few red flag about the overarching power that the federal government is attempting to accrue unto itself should the so-called “America’s Affordable Health Choices Act of 2009″ pass into law.
Wondering what sort of effects the bill would have on his “freedom as an American,” Lewis identifies some extremely un-American powers that will be suddenly bestowed upon government with this act. At the outset Lewis discovers that this bill will be onerous, indeed and paying for it will fall on every American whether involved or not.
Higher taxes, more borrowing, printing money, cutting payments, or rationing services–there are no other options. We will all pay for this, enrolled in the government “option” or not.
Lewis does an outstanding job pinpointing some of the worst parts of the House bill by excerpting the actual language of the bill and then giving a bulleted, point-by-point explanation of what will occur upon passage.

Obama’s Newest Ethics Waivers, More Death of Hope-n-Change
August 17, 2009 | Filed Under Anti-Americanism, Barack Obama, Democrats/Leftists, Government, Corruption, Liberals, President, The Law, Warner Todd Huston | Comments Off

Remember the hope-n-change we were gonna get if The One were to take the White House? ‘Member how it was going to be a new era in ethics, and all? Do ya remember all the wonderfulness of no lobbyists and a new day dawning? Are ya feeling a bit let down on the hopie-changie stuff, bunkey?
Well here is another broken promise from the Obammessiah that you can chalk right up there on the score board marking the death of hope-n-change.
Obama’s White House has engaged in some more ethics jujitsu and given ethics waivers to more White House lawyers.
As Josh Gerstein of Politico reports:
The White House has waived its ethics rules to allow two lawyers in the White House Counsel’s Office to continue to work on matters relating to former President George W. Bush.
The waivers were granted Thursday to Chris Weideman and Jonathan Kravis, both of whom formerly worked for Williams & Connolly and both of whom handle matters that involve Bush, White House ethics counsel Norm Eisen said in a statement posted on the White House blog.
Pile this on top of the over a dozen so-called journalists becoming White House flacks, dozens of evil lobbyists joining Obama’s administration, and lawyers out the wazoo that had the happy coincidence of receiving ethics waivers all since The Won came to office.
But, let’s revisit this claim I made above that Obama isn’t changing anything at the White House. He really IS making changes. Why, he’s changing all of Washington to become the land of patronage just like it was before Chester Alan Arthur instituted Civil Service reform.
Obama has brought in “change” alright. He’s changed government back into the patronage army it was in the 1800s!
But… I’m a gussin’ that wasn’t the sort of “change” the hope-n-change crowd wuz lookin’ for!

Democrats Sponsor the DRINK Act

America needs to come together in this time of mean-spirited, backroom organizing. Yes, in this age of never before seen racism, in this age of the Nazi-like machinations of the un-American protester, we need to come together in a spirit of healthy debate where only the good is heard.
Our national ruler, The One, Barack Hussein Obama, the bringer of togetherness, the whumper of myths, the champion of the people over the powerful, has graciously come before us numerous times to plead for the light to be shown upon the evilness of Republicanism. And he is good.
So, in the spirit of our ruler, we the Democratic Party of the United States, have designed a new program to bring America into a new era. It is called the DRINK act.
Please, help us pass the Democratic Renewal by Ingesting Nutritious Koolaide act by contacting your regional controllers and “representatives” and let them know that you are 100% for the Koolaide!
President Obama has generously allocated $20 billion borrowed from his friends in China to distribute the government approved Koolaide packets so that all Americans* might come to see the light. The red, cherry flavored hallucinogen is FDA approved and good for Mom, the kids and grandma.
Once Americans ingest their government approved soft drink, all their cares will melt away. They will no longer be all upset by Republican lies about over spending, taxes, and government “tyranny.” There will be no worries any more. The people will find that everything is wonderful for the first time ever and will be content that the Democratic Party is there to support them.
Remember to tell your Congressmen that YOU want to DRINK the Koolaide!
*The Legislative, Judicial and Executive branches of government are exempt from the requirement to ingest any substance recommended to the people. State officials may determine that state employees are not eligible for this program. Military personnel are not exempted from the DRINK act, however, and will be injected with a concentrated substance upon passage of the DRINK act.

This is the 666th column in this weekly series. It had to be spent on an overarching subject. So it is.
President Barack Obama is the most accomplished liar I have ever encountered, and that includes several pathological liars I faced in court. The best of those I could not rattle even with a well-prepared and vigorous cross-examination. Only the weight of solid facts from other sources served to expose and defeat those people.
Pathological liars can give the impression that they are telling the truth because they are smooth, accomplished, and effective. But the most important reason is that they have learned to lie to themselves. When they tell a bald-faced lie, right to your face, they actually believe what they are saying.
I’ll use exactly one example. On the campaign trail, Obama repeatedly said that “no one earning less than $250,000 a year will pay any additional taxes.” This was his definition of the middle class, in his universal mantra of no new taxes for the bulk of Americans.

Woodstock: Generation Idiot

Sickeningly, an effluvium of nostalgia over the debacle concert near the town of Woodstock, New York in August of 1969 is everywhere. It’s the big 4-0. We should take this anniversary to remember that the catch phrase of the Woodstock generation eventually became “don’t trust anyone over 30.” In the case of the white wash of what really happened with the concert in Max Yasgur’s field, the warning is fitting because the truth seems to be forgotten for the fluffy propaganda of how wonderful the concert was. The concert is also emblematic of some of the vapid 60′s generation — by no means all of them, but the worst of them, to be sure.
In this single event we see some of the worst aspects of Bill Clinton’s generation of twits, thieves, anti-Americans, fools, and ignoramuses all wrapped up with the arrogance that we’ve come to associate with the extreme left in America today. Just think of how this messy event went down.
Originally Michael Lang, John Roberts, Joel Rosenman, and Artie Kornfeld imagined that they were creating a for-profit venture in the initial planning stages of the concert. Of course, we all know that the concert became “free” the moment too many people showed up and arrogantly crashed the poorly secured facilities the promoters created on the Yasgur’s farmland. Sadly, the freeloaders that came without tickets didn’t care that other people were losing money, they didn’t care that they were destroying someone’s property, and they paid no mind to what was right. They wanted something for free and arrogantly stole it outright. That attitude pretty much exemplifies the Clinton generation.
But that wasn’t the only ill-planned aspect of this concert. The mess started from day one.

I have always been one to say that I cannot know the answer to the “birthers’” question of whether Mr. Obama is eligible to hold the Presidency. I can’t answer the question because I am being kept from examining the only documents that do exist to prove the point. To date, I have heard all the arguments and seen all the propaganda – from both sides of the issue – and for all the uproar there is only one way to know who is right and who is mistaken. But the “birther” issue is a literal smoke-screen issue and one that is covering up a much more serious one; one that threatens to produce a constitutional crisis.
In examining this subject in the days after it first presented, our non-profit organization, BasicsProject.org, tasked with educating and informing the citizenry on matters that include constitutional literacy, began to ask questions in an effort to honestly understand the facts of the matter. As our examination progressed it became abundantly clear that there exists no mechanism for the enforcement of Article II, Section 1 of the United States Constitution, which states:
“No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.”
During our examination of the issue we contacted each of the State Boards of Election and/or Secretary of State’s offices to ask whether they or another organization within their jurisdiction required candidates for the Executive Branch offices to present first-source, vaulted proof of their prerequisite satisfaction of Article II, Section 1. They shared with us that their candidacy filing requirements for any elected office includes:

USA Today Hides Left Wing Sources of ‘Church’ Effort for Min. Wage Push

USA Today is attempting to pass off an effort to push a higher minimum wage law as an effort by “churches” when in reality it is a left wing effort sponsored by ACORN, unions and the extremist group American Progress headed by former Clinton front man, John Podesta.
With a misleading headline and an artfully vague first paragraph, USA Today tries to make this effort seem to be headed up by churches and religious figures. The headline, “Churches push for $10 minimum wage by 2010,” pins this effort squarely on churches even as the first paragraph walks that claim back in an artfully vague way.
Religious leaders and advocates, not satisfied with the 70-cent rise in the federal minimum wage that went into effect on Friday, are calling on congressional leaders to hike it up to $10 by 2010.
Notice how the headline doesn’t quite match up to the “Religious leaders and advocates” of the first paragraph. Notice that it goes from “churches” to “advocates.” We all know that churches and advocates are not necessarily one and the same. And when it comes to left wing “advocates,” actual churches are rarely anywhere involved.
Right in the first paragraph we must realize that it isn’t really “churches” that are involved in this effort but it is more likely the advocates of the first paragraph that is heading this min. wage movement.

Lincoln Mitchell’s Disingenuous Huffington Post on Healthcare

On Huffington Post, Lincoln Mitchell bills himself as the “Assistant Professor in the Practice of International Politics” at Columbia University but I think he’s better suited to a job as a minion in a ministry of truth in some Orwellian dystopian fantasy novel. In any case, his latest screed on the evilness of evil Republicans and their Nazi-like attack on those peace-loving, kind, and pure Obamacare policies certainly serves as a perfect sample of his propensity to propagandize. Truth be damned because here comes Linc Mitchell to the rescue of Obamacre.
In his HuffPo piece Mitchell attacks anyone that opposes Obamacare casting them as evil monsters yet in this perfect example of propaganda offers not a shred of proof or a single example to prove out his claims of the evil machinations of anti-Obamacare protesters. In his sycophantic support of Obama he makes all sorts of charges about the motives and organizations supposedly behind the healthcare townhall protests yet offers nothing to connect the dots. He just says it’s so and moves on as if it is all a matter of obvious fact.
Mr. Mitchell also makes several pronouncements about the kindness and soft-spoken nature of the American left and makes to compare their supposedly more intelligent and mature form of debate to that of those loud, crass Republicans. Again, he simply states this nonsense as it if is true regardless of the last 100 years of loud, crass liberal riots, bombings, murders, and protests that prove his claims an outright lie.

Now CNN Reporting on What Sarah ISN’T Doing

To show how obsessed the Old Media is over Governor Palin, now CNN has a story on its website ruminating over what Sarah isn’t doing. It seems that she can’t get away from the Old Media even by doing nothing. First they lose their minds over what she is doing, and then when she stops doing something, they go ga ga over that, too.
This time Eric Kuhn, CNN’s “Audience Interaction Producer” — what ever the heck that is — is all caught up over if and when Sarah will re-launch her Twitter account. “Is Palin getting ready to tweet again?,” Khun breathlessly asked on the 13th.
Listen, we all love Sarah, but is this actually news?

Name That Party: Child Molesting Senator Often Not IDd as Democrat

North Carolina State Senator R.C. Soles is a long time fixture in the state house in Raleigh. He is also the subject of many years of rumors and innuendo about child molesting. Recently he’s been accused of just such a crime by a young man that was 15 when Soles supposedly accosted him.
The news is full of all the relevant details of the case. The long whispered history, the warnings given local authorities and the name of the latest accuser. There is something about Senator Soles, though, that didn’t seem to make the news upon the allegations, however. The fact that Soles is a Democrat seems to have missed the attention of the NC media.

Union Pensions Getting BIG Payoff From Obamacare

It isn’t just out of the goodness of their hearts that Big Labor is gearing up to spend millions to help President Obama to jam Obamacare down the throats of the American people. The unions stand to get a big payoff of $10 billion to supplement their failing pension plans.
The President of the AFL-CIO recently announced that the union would jump into the healthcare fight to help out “working people.” John Sweeney also said that the healthcare fight is “the next big step in our march to turn around America.”
But unions already have their own healthcare plans and Obama promised — for whatever an Obama promise is worth — that union plans would be untouched by Obamacare. So, what are the unions in the fight for if it doesn’t really touch them?

Fact Check of Obama’s Portsmouth Town Hall

President Obama complains about misinformation out from the opponents regarding the health care debate, however, it seems he is a major source of misinformation himself. Here is a brief and by no means exhaustive examination of President Obama’s comments at just one town hall meeting.
Mischaracterizing Senator Isakson of GA over end of life legislation.
It turns out that I guess this arose out of a provision in one of the House bills that allowed Medicare to reimburse people for consultations about end-of-life care, setting up living wills, the availability of hospice, et cetera. So the intention of the members of Congress was to give people more information so that they could handle issues of end-of-life care when they’re ready, on their own terms. It wasn’t forcing anybody to do anything. This is I guess where the rumor came from.
The irony is that actually one of the chief sponsors of this bill originally was a Republican — then House member, now senator, named Johnny Isakson from Georgia — who very sensibly thought this is something that would expand people’s options. And somehow it’s gotten spun into this idea of “death panels.” I am not in favor of that. So just I want to — (applause.) I want to clear the air here.
The Senator responded this way to Obama’s statement:
