From the Dodge for Comptroller campaign:

The Ford County Republican Organization voted Thursday night to endorse Jim Dodge, Republican candidate for Illinois Comptroller in the February 2, 2010 Republican Primary.

“I believe he has the intellect and the confidence to do the job and the ambition and integrity to follow through on the tough decisions that need to be made for the state,” said Eric Thompson, Ford County GOP Chairman. “Our organization sees that Jim Dodge embodies these characteristics that make him the right candidate for Comptroller.”

Dodge secured support from more than 60% of the organization’s members. Dodge’s chief opponent, former Illinois State Treasurer and 2006 Republican nominee for Governor Judy Baar Topinka, also sought the Ford Township endorsement.

“The support and confidence of Republicans in Ford County shows yet again, Party members want to make a clean break from the politics of the past,” said Dodge. “They want someone who will be tough and stand up for the citizens of Illinois and not conduct business as usual.”

Ford County joins the growing list of endorsements for Dodge. Cuba, Libertyville and Vernon Townships in Lake County, New Trier, Wheeling, Orland and Schaumburg Townships in Cook County have already endorsed Dodge’s candidacy. Dodge also defeated Topinka in the November 4th Milton Township straw poll. Milton Township, located in DuPage County, was carried by Topinka in her failed 2006 gubernatorial run.

Dodge has served on the Orland Park Board of Trustees since 1989, serving as a village trustee since 1996. A Vice President at The Nielsen Company, Dodge was named to the Metra Board of Directors in 2004. An Illinois Army National Guard veteran, Dodge holds an MBA from the University of Chicago and received his Bachelor’s Degree from DePaul University. He and his wife, Linda, have two children.
