From the William Kelly for Comptroller campaign…
In response to his opponents’ unprecedented smear campaign against him, Republican candidate for Comptroller has issued this web documentary response:
“I am a Republican candidate for comptroller. But, more importantly, I am a life long conservative. What does it mean to be a conservative? Does it mean that you simply say you are a conservative? If that is all it means…then every candidate in every election cycle can call themselves “conservative” when it is convenient politically. But you, as voters need to ask these candidates, “What do you mean, you are a conservative?”
“Far too often, we vote for these candidates and then they govern in the way they please. They break their promises to us. I define being a conservative differently. To me, being a conservative means being an activist. It means somebody who has a history of fighting for conservative issues and candidates even before they run for office themselves. This web documentary, “A Conservative in Chicago” will show that I have been a conservative my entire life and that I actually started my TV production business with an eye to promoting conservative values, policies, and candidates. I am the only real outsider and reformer in this race for comptroller who will open the books and expose the insider deals – Democrat or Republican – balance the budget and build a real Republican party.”
“2010 is the best and perhaps last opportunity we will ever have to reform the state of Illinois. And February 2nd, perhaps the most important date in the history of Illinois, will determine if that is possible. If you help me win the nomination on February 2nd, I promise I will win the office for you and use it to reform, rebuild, and redeem Illinois once and for all.”
