Former ACORN Worker Justifies Preventing Pledge of Allegiance at Illinois Candidate Debate

Thanks to Jeff Dunetz at Yid With Lid we have found out that a former ACORN worker turned director of the League of Women Voters has been heard justifying actions of the debate moderator who tried to prevent the audience at an 8th District candidate debate from reciting the Pledge of Allegiance last week.
As the debate began someone in the crowd yelled out asking if they were going to start the night’s activities with the pledge. The moderator of the debate nixed the idea saying “no we are not.” Then when the crowd expressed its shock and dismay she said “excuse me,” and “it has never been part of…” at which time she was interrupted by the entire crowd reciting the pledge anyway.
For days the controversy has raged since the October 20 debate where debate moderator Kathy Tate-Bradish tried to prevent the people from reciting the pledge. Then on Oct. 22, there was an outrageous story that Executive Director Jan Czarnik of the League of Women Voters was lambasting the pledge controversy as a stunt set up by GOP candidate Joe Walsh and an example of “phony patriotism.”
So the LWV thinks reciting the Pledge of Allegiance is “phony patriotism,” eh?
Disgusting.

It must be nice to be an Obama insider like Democrat Senate candidate Alexi “The Mob Banker” Giannoulias is. Obama’s FDIC is obviously in his corner, it seems. After all, the FDIC decided to wait until after the election is over to release its report on the failure of Giannoulias’s family bank.
So, Giannoulias might possibly be safely elected to the Senate before the results of any embarrassing investigations into his culpability for the bank failure are released.
Yep, must be nice to have basketball partners in high places.

Atheists Don’t Know the Difference in Chicken Soup and Chicken Poop!

Angry atheists are disingenuous, dishonest, and disgusting. While loudly proclaiming that there is no God, it seems God is all they talk about! Dawkins, Hitchens, Harris, and Dennett (the Four Horsemen of Atheism) and Company don’t believe in the Tooth Fairy, Tinker Bell, Easter Bunny, and Santa Claus but they don’t crusade against them either. However, their books have sold so well, I would not be surprised if one of them published a book on why he doesn’t believe in the Easter Bunny. Furthermore, their liberal, loony, loopy fans will rush out to purchase their scribbling efforts. Angry, abrasive atheists have declared war against Christians, Christ, and the Church.
It seems that those who don’t believe in God are the loudest voices who constantly talk about God! Their motive is clear: to prohibit Christians from teaching children in home, church, and school that a sovereign God exists and has given us a Book that teaches an exclusive salvation plan based upon the death and resurrection of Christ. That is what their declaration of war is all about and I accept their challenge to war.

Randy Quaid Wants Canadian Asylum Cuz ‘They’ Are Murdering Actors in Hollywood… or Something

-By Warner Todd Huston
Jammie Wearing Fool brought to our attention the weird’o story of actor Randy Quaid and his wacky wife who are trying to get asylum in Canada to avoid prosecution for trespass and avoiding detention here in the USA. Why do they want asylum? Why because “they” are killing people in Hollywood for being… I guess just for being actors… or something.
Mrs Quaid begged a Canadian immigration adjudicator not to force her to return, saying friends, such as actors David Carradine and Heath Ledger, have been ‘murdered’ under mysterious circumstances.
‘We feel our lives are in danger,’ she said. ‘Randy has known eight close friends murdered in odd, strange manners… We feel that we’re next.’
Well if “they” are killing Hollywooders they sure haven’t done their job nearly well enough. I can think of a dozen of ‘em right off the top o’ my head that’r still walking around who need that treatment! Someone is falling down on the job, I’d say. I mean it’s like killin’ Kennedys. Why’d they stop at just two? Slipshod work is all I can think of.
Seriously, though, I think Randy and his wacky wife are gooped up on the gop if they think that they are targets of those Hollywood assassins. But I still don’t know why they are worried. Does Quaid and his wife really think they are in the same class of actors as Heath Ledger?

Everyone is talking about the situation that commentator Juan Williams found himself in when National Public Radio fired him over comments he made on Fox News about Muslims. And whether you think Williams’s situation was properly handled or not, a second discussion has been raised in conjunction with it: the propriety of federal funding of NPR and PBS.
On the funding issue, no more convoluted argument about the necessity of federal money being spent on NPR can be found than an article that appeared in the New York Daily News penned by the executive director of the New York Civil Rights Coalition, Michael Meyers. His op ed stood four-square in favor of continued federal funding of public radio and public television but his reason was simply illogical and impossible to understand.
Saying that those that support Juan Williams’s supporters, “vindictively want to totally de-fund the left-leaning NPR” because of Williams’s firing. He felt that those that want to take away federal funding from NPR are making a “big mistake.”
But check out the absurd reasoning why he thinks this:

‘Call Me Madam’: Let This Video Be My Apology for Once Supporting Sen. Boxer

David Zucker has made a great video slamming Barbara “Senator Ma’am” Boxer. It is very funny.
Call Me Madam Joe from RightChange on Vimeo.
Zucker says on BigHollywood.com, “I was motivated to do something on this after I saw the video of Barbara Boxer interrogating the General.”
I remember immediately feeling embarrassed that a member of Congress would treat an officer of the U.S. military like that. And doubly embarrassed that back in the early 90’s I had contributed to Barbara Boxer’s campaign. I was so outraged at the pure arrogance of that moment, that I sat down to write the spot, highlighting the pure absurdity of our California Senator dressing down a General for calling her “Ma’am.” No Naked Gun or Scary Movie ever had an opportunity as good as that one for pure ridicule. Never mind that the military are instructed to call their superiors including members of congress ‘Sir’ or ‘Ma’am’, including specifically, Members of Congress!
I thought an apology would have been appropriate, but to my knowledge, none has ever been made by Senator Boxer. This I find distressing, since apologies from public figures nowadays are the norm. I mean, it’s not as if she texted her junk to Brett Favre. This was just arrogantly insulting an army officer. But I guess that’s okay with her.
This odious woman deserves to be fired from the Senate. Come on California. Are you going to allow this arrogant cuss to be returned?
Brutal Fisking: NC NAACP Chapter Pres. Alleges Tea Party is as Racist as Democrats

The NAACP has released its unbiased report on racism in the Tea Party and has unexpectedly found it is racist.
Hardly surprising.
The president of the North Carolina NAACP chapter, Rev. William Barber, went far enough in his condemnation of the group to be noticed by the Washington Post:
“We have to have particular concern about supremacy attitudes, violence, hate language, particularly when it’s rooted in notions of restoring or taking back or redeeming the country,” Barber said. “Because, in the American social-historical-political psyche, we have historical markers that tell us how dangerous this is to be given legitimacy.”
For instance:
“We know in 1867 when the Ku Klux Klan, for instance, laid out its political purposes, it was about restoring and re-enfranchising, if you will.”
“And then when you go to the Reconstruction Era, you find this same attempt to spew this division, this hate language out…. ‘We need to restore America. We need to take it back.’”
Barber moved on to 1963. “When George Wallace used this language and themes of division, very vitriolic hate language,” Barber said, “Medgar Evers was killed in June of that year… We had the bombing of a church, four girls were killed at Sunday school and then we had a president assassinated.”
It’s hard to believe I have to do this, but I guess I do, at least for the good Rev. Barber.

Feds Deciding When Healthcare Science Costs Too Much To Save Lives

If anyone wants a current example of what is looming ahead for medical science at the hands of Obamacare, the Avastin controversy is a perfect one. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) wants to de-list the cancer drug Avastin one reason being that it is a drug too expensive for government to fund. It is scary to think that the federal government can summarily dismiss cancer drugs merely because of expense, but that is what happens when government starts counting the beans. It becomes an issue of cost instead of effectiveness.
There were other reasons that the FDA wants to dump Avastin, but cost was one of them. One of those that sat in judgment of Avastin admitted that cost was a factor in the decision to delegitimize the treatment. Natalie Compagni Portis, a member of one of the panels that the FDA convened to investigate the drug, said, “We aren’t supposed to talk about cost, but that’s another issue.”

Crossroads School, a K Through 12 School Sponsoring Left-Wing Rally?

Crossroads School for Arts & Sciences, a K-12 facility in Santa Monica, California, is tired of all the political insanity out there. To help ameliorate this state of affairs, the school has decided to use its campus assets, its school email system, and its teachers to sponsor a Jon Stewart-styled rally to “restore sanity” in its area.
Luckily for Santa Monica such “moderate” voices as 60s counterculture activist Tom Hayden, progressive talk show host and activist lawyer Jim Lafferty of the National Lawyers Guild, and others are going to be on hand to shout down the “extremists” out there. But with this list of speakers, “moderation” is the last thing that can be expected.
This rally raises many questions. Why is a school for younger children advocating adult political issues to its students by hosting a list of left-wing, radical speakers and presenting them as “moderates”? How can a school that claims to be interested in fostering “diversity” be lending itself to a rally lacking diversity of thought? Does this school get any federal or state money? If so, how can it justify the use of its teachers, technology, and facilities for a partisan, left-wing rally?

The headline on the National Public Radio website said, “NPR Ends Williams’ Contract After Muslim Remarks”, but it should have said, “NPR Fires Williams for Telling the Truth.”
I am familiar with Juan Williams as Fox News Channel’s designated liberal. I have often wondered how Williams found time for NPR because he is on Fox morning, noon and night. The other night he was on with the incredibly popular Bill O’Reilly discussing the way the ladies of “The View” had thrown a hissy-fit over Bill’s comment that “Muslims killed Americans” on 9/11.
Well, yes, Muslims had planned it, funded it, and were the perpetrators. Not all Muslims, but all those involved in the terrorist act that involved hijacking four commercial airliners. Muslims have been killing people in London, Madrid, Moscow, Bali, Mumbai, and other places for a very long time when not killing other Muslims in Iraq, Pakistan, and Afghanistan. In the aftermath of 9/11 some Muslims were dancing in the streets to celebrate the attack on the Great Satan.

Many people will insist that the subject of the Democratic National Committee’s attack ad – the one that takes pot-shots at Karl Rove, Ed Gillespie, the US Chamber of Commerce and the GOP in general – is a dead issue; that the moment in time to “slice and dice” this most egregious media hatchet job has come and gone. Nothing could be further from the truth and here’s why: This attack ad by the DNC – and John Podesta, via the Center for American Progress – makes honesty an issue in this election cycle.
Pardon me for saying so, but it is well past time that we expect honesty from not only our elected officials but from those running for office, those raising money for those running for office, the political parties – and their surrogates, and the media, the total of the media, both the new and the decrepit. We Americans have tolerated dishonest “spin” for decades and, quite honestly, we have only ourselves to blame. If we weren’t buying it, they wouldn’t be selling it.

AP Says Dem Early Voters Big Turnout in MD, But MD Early Voting Hasn’t Started

(This post read on-air by Rush Limbaugh on Oct. 22, 2010)
Here is an interesting question that I have for the Associated Press. The AP has a story from October 21 that features the news that Democrats in Maryland are turning out in bigger numbers for early voting than Republicans. But according to the Maryland State Board of Elections, early voting in the Old Line State isn’t supposed to start until October 22.
Of the early voting stats in its Oct. 21 report AP says (my bold):
While it’s impossible to tell for whom people are voting, so far more Democrats than Republicans are casting ballots in Iowa, Maryland, North Carolina, Louisiana and Nevada’s heavily Democratic Clark County, which supplied two-thirds of the state’s voters in 2008.
But according to the Maryland State Board of Elections (my bold again):
For the general election, early voting centers will be open starting Friday October 22, 2010 through Thursday, October 28, 2010, except for Sunday, October 24th when early voting centers are closed.
So, what gives? How is it that AP knows the future and is reporting on early voting in Maryland, saying it is high for Democrats, when early voting isn’t even supposed to start until the day after the report came out?
Could someone explain to me what I’m missing?
