CNN’S Maritn: Let’s See The Dead Bodies of Sandy Hook Kids

Roland Martin wants us all to see the dead bodies of the victims of the massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary school. He imagines that this is the only way stupid Americans can “get” the shooting.

In a new editorial, CNN contributor Roland Martin wants to put on display the murdered children of Sandy Hook in some grisly panoply that he thinks will help America agree with his anti-gun agenda.

Taking his cue from a message he received from another ghoulish CNN employee, Martin posited that the only way Americans can actually understand the weight of the massacre at Sandy Hook is to display the dead bodies of its children in the same way Emmett Till’s mother allowed photos of her dead son to be emblazoned on magazine covers in the 1950s.

Emmett Till, you’ll recall, was the black teenager that was mercilessly beaten to death in Mississippi in 1955 because the racists there claimed he had “flirted” with a white woman. The beating left the poor teen unrecognizable. When Till’s mother held her son’s funeral she left his casket open to show the evil perpetrated upon her son.

Martin recalls what happened as a result of Till’s open casket funereal.

When Jet magazine and the Chicago Defender newspaper published his battered face on their covers, it sent shock waves throughout America, and especially in the black community. The brutality of lynchings were talked about and covered, yet for the world to witness with its own eyes the end result of vicious bigotry, it forced the nation to examine its conscience.

Roland Martin goes on to claim that America needs to see dead children in an updated Emmett Till-like moment so that the stupid American people can understand the shootings.

What if one of the mothers or fathers of the Newtown 20 demanded that police give them a crime scene photo of their child and they chose to show it to the world? Can you imagine a modern day Mamie Till Mobley, wracked with pain but filled with resolve to show the nation so they could bear witness to what hate did to their child?

And why do we need to see the bodies of the Sandy Hook dead paraded across our TVs, magazines, and newspapers?

For too many of us, we hear about gun violence, we talk about it, we mourn it, but to be honest, we’ve never witnessed it.

I see. So, Roland Martin is smart enough to understand the events that occurred at Sandy Hook even though he’s never seen the kid’s dead bodies. But no one else is smart enough to “get” it?

There is another question that needs to be asked about Roland Martin’s little idea here. Where are Mr. Martin’s cries to see the dead bodies of all the black children killed in Chicago every week? Apparently one Sandy Hook in Connecticut outweighs the Sandy-Hook-a-week we see in Chicago.

Finally, once again we get a left-winger with an agenda and that agenda is not to solve the “crisis” they want to focus on, but merely to ban guns and eviscerate the U.S. Constitution. After all, if activists like Roland Martin really wanted to stop these massacres he’d be talking about fixing our flawed mental health system in America, not worried about guns.
