Tales of the Un-American Fourth of July

-By Warner Todd Huston

Usually over the Independence Day weekend we spend time posting stories about America and patriotism. But this is also the perfect time to remember that the left never stops hating America and Americans first and foremost, so here are just some recent stories to remind us of how anti-American liberals really are.

Let’s start with the always too numerous stories of idiot, powermad homeowner’s associations that demand Americans take down their American flags…

First of all, why do American’s ever agree to join a homeowner’s association? I can’t imagine a less American idea than having a group of mere neighbors telling you want color you can paint your house, what plants to put in your yard, or if you are “allowed” to fly an American flag or not?

Anyway, we get at least half a dozen of these stories every year, tales of one idiot group of officious homeowner’s association bosses demanding that people remove their American flags.

In one case we had the HO in Hutto, Texas, telling residents they weren’t allowed to fly the flag with one resident insisting that it is his “right as an American” to fly the flag any damn time he wants to. Right on!

Some apartment building rules are just as bad. Most recently we had the story of a man in Colorado who was told he wasn’t allowed to fly Old Glory from the balcony of his apartment. He was sent a letter telling him to remove it or face eviction. In America! Eviction for displaying an American flag!!

And often city ordinances aren’t any better as one business owner in Lexington, South Carolina, discovered when the city told him he wasn’t allowed to fly the flag outside his business. Worse, it was the police who confronted him and demanded he remove the flags. The police. In America.

And of course we will always get the rush of those hate-America-firsters in the old media establishment rushing to their keyboards to pish-tosh the Independence Day celebration and to say that America just isn’t worth celebrating.

This year we got New York Daily News doofus Gersh Kuntzman fresh off being nationally ridiculed as a ‘fraidy cat after publishing a story where he admitted that firing an AR-15 rifle was weewy, weewy scawy (despite videos of children not being scared as they fired one) coming out to tell Americans that the song “God Bless America” is a “song that offends everyone.”

Next we got Mark Oppenheimer, the anti-American columnist for the L.A. Times, insisting that being patriotic was actually “un-American.”

And then we also suffered under the foolishness from The Washington Post informing us that the traditional July Fourth fireworks are “incredibly stupid” and every state should ban them.

We also see far too many Americans who just don’t have a clue about our own history and founding, worse, some of them are on the political scene.

There was the moron Democrat candidate in New York who was so historically illiterate he was caught going around quoting the hit play “Hamilton” but thinking he was actually quoting founding father Alexander Hamilton himself and not a play fashioned on the founders entertaining us in the style of rap music!

But that idiot was nothing compared to a former Secretary of Labor telling us all all that “Americanism” on Independence day is thoroughly disgusting.

Former Bill Clinton Labor Sec. and current University of California Berkeley professor Robert Reich was heard just ahead of Independence Day warning Americans that it is all just too gauche to show that “excessive patriotism” and, darn it, we should all just quit it.

Finally, take Mark Dice’s recent video where he asked a slew of Americans in California what country we separated from in the Revolutionary War. Not a one of them knew…

Well, I guess it isn’t surprising. It was California, after all.

With all this, is it any wonder that the five least patriotic state are all run by Democrats? Nope, not surprising at all.
