Liberal cable TV network MSNBC recently aired a corker of a promo, this one showing on-air personality Melissa Harris-Perry saying that our kids aren’t ours, that they belong to the community and parents need to “get over” this crazy idea that their own kids belong to them.
Straight from the Comintern, Harris-Perry says that we could “plan our investments” better if we could just dispense with the idea that kids belong to parents and that parents should have the responsibility to raise them according to the parents’ ideals and principles. All hail the state who, in Harris-Perry’s views, isn’t just big brother, but is also big mother and big father.
Here is a transcript of what the MSNBC screedist said on the promo:

Iowa Newspaper Posts, Then Pulls Interactive Map Showing Schools With No Security Officers

The Des Moines Register courted controversy on Wednesday by posting on the Internet an interactive map featuring the locations of Iowa schools that didn’t have security guards. But after a wave of criticism, only hours later the newspaper pulled the map down and reworked it to eliminate the names and addresses of the specific schools. The map was re-launched later that evening.
Initially the map featured flag pins which when clicked would bring up detailed information about the school the flag represented. Each flag had the name of the school, the location of the school and its security situation when known. Red flags were schools with no security guards, green flags were schools with guards, and gray were schools that had not supplied the paper with enough information to delineate whether there were guards or not.
But almost immediately Iowans began to complain, alarmed that the newspaper would set up a map to every school that was totally unprotected. Citizens accused the paper of putting thousands of kids in danger.

The University of Tennessee-Knoxville agreed to fund its first “Sex Week” to the tune of $20,000 of university funds but a group of Tennessee lawmakers demanded that the school put an end to the event or face losing state funding.
The event is scheduled for April 7 through 12, and sponsors even set up a Facebook page to urge on UofT students to join the event.
“Sex is big. Sex is everything. Sex is coming to UTK in 2013 for a WHOLE WEEK! Sex, Sexuality, Relationships, Gender!,” the hosts said of their event.
But State Sen. Stacey Campfield was not amused by the carnal carnival. He told Fox News, “We should be teaching these children what is important to learn so they can get jobs.”

Slavery Flap Shows Emory University Professors are Morons

Earlier this month the President of Emory University wrote a piece for the school magazine about the efficacy of compromise. By the 24th he was forced to apologize for the piece because he mentioned slavery fully in context in his piece. The faux outrage that his comments caused proved three things: that no one at Emory has any grasp of American history, that the professors at Emory University are morons, and that the student body are utterly unable to employ critical thinking.
The segment that upset everyone was utterly innocuous and cited properly in context by Wagner, without hate or racism. Unfortunately, logic and context isn’t what the race baiters of Emory University are interested in, sad to say.
President James Wagner’s piece was meant to extol the virtues of compromise and meant his piece to explain that this vaunted compromise was as American as Apple Pie, baseball, and the restl. Pursuant to that, Wagner wrote the following:
One instance of constitutional compromise was the agreement to count three-fifths of the slave population for purposes of state representation in Congress. Southern delegates wanted to count the whole slave population, which would have given the South greater influence over national policy. Northern delegates argued that slaves should not be counted at all, because they had no vote. As the price for achieving the ultimate aim of the Constitution—“to form a more perfect union”—the two sides compromised on this immediate issue of how to count slaves in the new nation. Pragmatic half-victories kept in view the higher aspiration of drawing the country more closely together.
Such as it is, this is correct, straight forward, pure fact. It has not a whiff of controversy to it. Well, it wouldn’t have a whiff of controversy if an intelligent, informed person were reading that excerpt, anyway.
Instead of intelligent people, however, we ended up with dolts like Emory history “professor” Leslie Harris, halfwits like “professor” Leroy Davis, and racebaiters like student Jovanna Jones.

Sandra Fluke: Religious Employers Will Deny Contraception Coverage, Leukemia Treatments, Blood Transfusions

MSNBC is still scheduling Sandra Fluke as a guest and on Friday’s NewsNation with Tamron Hall she essentially claimed that leukemia treatments and contraception coverage is pretty much the same thing in the eyes of those “religious employers” that want to use religious objections to deny “healthcare” coverage to employees.
“I think what it is important to note is that some of the folks who are continuing to object to this policy are actually worried about employers who are private companies, not religiously affiliated employers in any way, but the boss has a particular religious concern and they want to be able deny their employees particular types of healthcare.
Now if you take a sep back and think about that, that’s, you know, you work at a restaurant, you work at a store and your boss is able to deny you leukemia coverage, or contraception coverage, or blood transfusions or any number of medical concerns that someone might have a religious objection to.
So the folks that are still objecting have some very extreme ideas about religious freedom and employee healthcare in this country.
There are many fallacies in this.

British police have finally issued its first major report on the criminal sex scandal that has rocked Britain’s TV and entertainment industry, the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), for well over a year and the details are shocking.
Late BBC TV and radio star Jimmy Savile is accused of physically abusing hundreds of children–the youngest of whom was just 8–as well as many young adults whom he met through his high profile charity work at various children’s hospitals throughout England.
Savile’s crimes began in Manchester in 1955, peaked in the late 70′s and early 80′s, and continued at a lower pace all the way until at least 2009, two years before his death at 85.
The police report concludes that Savile committed 214 criminal offenses including 34 rapes or other serious sexual assaults across England. 450 people have come forward with information about Savile’s crimes

UK Guardian: Pedophiles Need Support

The paper the Guardian has become Britain’s newest champion for a minority of sorts. In a January 3 article, the UK paper has taken up the cause of pedophiles who claim they are just “ordinary members of society” that only need a little understanding.
The paper seriously presented pedophiles as but a misunderstood minority that do no real harm. As Telegraph writer Damian Thompson points out, “this is not some sick send-up” on his point. The UK Guardian is wholly serious.
Guardian feature columnist Jon Henley uncritically quotes convicted pedophiles like Tom O’Carroll who said that children enter into such “relationships” voluntarily. “If there’s no bullying, no coercion, no abuse of power, if the child enters into the relationship voluntarily … the evidence shows there need be no harm.”
Henley then trots out a few “experts” that present “proof” that kids are not harmed by the predators that abuse them.

Obama Raising Campaign Money Off Sandy Hook Massacre

You may think that after winning the election team Obama should be done raising money for its campaign fund. But Sandy Hook is a crisis too good to go to waste so with a new email from David Axelrod, team Obama is using the President’s remarks about the Sandy Hook massacre to raise more money.
The new campaign email carrying the imprimatur of Obama campaign chief David Axelrod urges campaign supporters to watch Obama’s address made at Newton, Connecticut where you’ll find a convenient donate now button.
“The next chapter begins today. Stand with President Obama for the next four years,” the email is headlined.
Axelrod doesn’t urge donations in the text of his email, of course, but the donate now buttons are both in the email and at the MyBarackObama.com page where team Obama is hosting the video of the speech.
Says Jeryl Bier: “Not one, but two buttons – two opportunities to donate to the Obama campaign. Not to the Red Cross, or to a memorial fund for the children and adults killed in Newtown. How hard would it have been to shift the focus, disable the buttons, for just one email, just one blog post? But the show must go on.”
The fact that any donate now button appears on any messages about the crime as Sandy Hook elementary is quite crass, indeed.

Merriam-Webster has announced its most looked-up words for 2012 reporting that “capitalism” and “socialism” tied for the top query.
Obviously we can thank Barack Obama for this pairing of most looked-up words as people flocked to the Merriam-Webster site to try and figure out exactly what the heck everyone was talking about when the two words came up in the national debate.
“They’re words that sort of encapsulate the zeitgeist. They’re words that are in the national conversation,” said Merriam-Webster’s editor at large, Peter Sokolowski.
One has to wonder how bad our education system has gotten when so many millions of people have to turn to an online dictionary to learn what capitalism and socialism mean.

‘Three Cups of Tea’ Author Commits Suicide

Not long after the book Three Cups of Tea: One Man’s Mission to Promote Peace … One School at a Time came out in 2006 it became a best-selling sensation, but now the co-author of the book, beset by questions over whether or not the stories in the book are true, has committed suicide.
On November 14, Three Cups co-author David Oliver Relin, 49, was found dead outside Portland along some railroad tracks and under a roadway overpass. According to Multnomah County medical examiner Peter Bellant, the writer died from a “blunt force head injury.”
Relin co-authored the famed book with adventurer Greg Mortenson who was said to have made a vow to help build schools for girls in remote Pakistani villages because one small village took him in and nursed him back to health after he got lost trying to climb the world’s second highest mountain in the Karakoram range of the Kashmir-administered area of northern Pakistan.
By the early 2000s, Mortenson had joined the lecture circuit to promote his adventures and to raise funds for the Pakistani schools project. Journalist David Relin was assigned the task of writing a book on Mortenson’s cause and met the adventurer on the lecture trail in 2005 to interview him for the book project.
Their relationship was said to have been tense. Regardless, Three Cups of Tea became a huge success selling over four million copies.

Obama’s Economy Makes Criminals Out of Pennsylvania Family, Lose Their Children

Obama’s unemployment rate is the worst continuously down trend seen since The Great Depression. Millions of Americans have lost their jobs and, subsequently, lost their homes to foreclosure. One Pennsylvania family, faced with Obama’s destruction, tried to move to another state where they hoped to see a better life but instead of finding opportunity they had their children stolen from them by the state and were turned into criminals.
After losing their home to foreclosure, the Detjen family rented a moving truck, loaded their meager possessions on board, and decided to try and head west to greener pastures. Of course, the problem was that the tiny cab of the truck could not hold the couple and their seven children.
So, the Detjen’s bundled up five of their children in winter clothing and sat them in the cargo hold of the moving truck and then set out for California.
Some nosey citizen, however, called the jackboots on the Detjens because, as the law stands, having riders in the cargo hold of a moving truck is illegal.
Naturally, the cops swooped down on the Detjens as they plied one of Indiana’s highways on their way west. The couple’s belongings were impounded, the truck jacked to the police impound lot, and, naturally, their children were taken away from them by those oh-so-concerned drones from the department of Children and Family Services.
In that ages old American way, this beset upon family was trying desperately to start life anew by bundling up the family and moving to where they think might be greener pastures. But in this age of Obama, this family was instead turned them into criminals.

It has been revealed that some Texas schools were teaching that the Boston Tea Party, an event widely understood as having helped spark the American Revolution, was actually a “terrorist” attack on British authorities.
At least up until January of 2012, Texas schools utilizing the history curriculum from CSCOPE, a non-profit and supposedly non-partisan education service, taught that the most famous tax protest in American history was akin to terrorism.
The tact taken to discuss the event was to engage kids as if the Boston Tea Party had just occurred and was a current news report.

Troubles are growing for the newest boss of The New York Times over the shocking abuse scandal perpetrated by one of the BBC’s most famous TV personalities, Jimmy Savile. The scandal has rocked the British Isles and cast a dark cloud over the end of former BBC Chief Mark Thompson’s career, the same Mark Thompson that has just become the new head of the NY Times.
The scandal Thompson thought he left behind in England is coming back to haunt him and it’s a case of what did he know and when did he know it.
For his part, Mark Thompson has insisted he knew nothing about the decades-long series of criminal abuse cases committed by BBC TV host Jimmy Savile. The TV personality, who passed away a year ago, is accused of sexually abusing dozens — if not hundreds — of young girls starting back in the 1960s and continuing for decades. Worse, it appears that the British Broadcasting Corporation committed several decades worth of coverups to hide their star’s guilt.
Thompson claims he knew nothing of any of this when he was head of the BBC.

Now that the Chicago Teachers Union’s big strike is over they have time for other activities. Like pushing the communist idea of “social justice.” And so, the CTU is helping host a “Teaching for Social Justice” event this month.
So, some of the highest paid teachers in the country are all about “the struggle,” eh? (Media base for CTU teachers is $67,974 annually)
Of course, that brings me back to the question I sort of hinted at above: are Chicago’s teachers doing their jobs?

Apparently Ohlone College, with campuses in Freemont and Newark, California, is using my article about sexting as the basis for an exercise in the proper way to summarize someone else’s work. Ohlone is a junior or community college.
The piece the college is using is mine titled “Teen Suicide Brings Wrong Call for Regulation.”

After a badly reported Gallup poll on important election issues, on October 20 CNN’s Carol Costello thought she had the answer as to why 39 percent of women felt that abortion was the top issue this election cycle: it’s the Republican’s fault she claimed.
Without any knowledge about the poll other than the percentage of women that chose abortion as the top issue, Costello imagined that the reason so many chose abortion must be because of Missouri’s GOP Senate candidate Todd Akin and his comments about “legitimate rape.” Or maybe it was even Illinois GOP Congressman Joe Walsh’s recent comments about abortion, comments that Costello assured everyone were “controversial.”
These are, of course, nonsensical claims.

Flashback: Candy Crowley Dismissed Oppression of Women By Taliban

With the focus on the horrible job of “moderating” perpetrated by CNN’s Candy Crowley at the latest 2012 presidential debate, it is instructive to take a look back at some of her past work for CNN. For instance, in a 2010 interview with former President George W. Bush, Crowley dismissed Bush’s correct assertion that women are horribly oppressed by the Taliban in Afghanistan and Pakistan.
It is interesting to contrast Crowley’s dismissive attitude about the Taliban’s oppression of women with the story of 14-year-old Malala Yousufazi, the Pakistani teen who stood up to the oppressive Taliban and was shot in the head for her bravery. This story is heartbreaking but let us hope that her example can spur others to activism against the evils of radical Islam.
But, it seemed in her interview with President Bush that Crowley didn’t think the oppression of women by the Taliban was any worse than that of any other nation!
(At 1:50 into the video)
George W. Bush:: I would say that, uh, put yourself in the position of a young girl in Afghanistan and realize that her life will be incredibly brutalized and or thwarted by people like the Taliban. And the fundamental question – Is it worth it? – that’s the question we’ve got to ask. Does it matter to our own national security, or does it matter to our conscience, that women will be mistreated? I argue it does. And I understand it’s difficult…
Candy Crowley: It is. And women are mistreated in a lot of different parts of the world.
Bush: But nothing like they were during the Taliban.
Notice that Crowley felt it necessary to point out that women are mistreated “in a lot of different parts of the world”? That equivocation really had no bearing on the discussion of the oppression by the Taliban, certainly, but what was she trying to say, here? The impression is that the oppression women face at the hands of the Taliban is no big deal because women are mistreated elsewhere, too.

Solutions: Michelle Obama Proposes Vegetable Offsets for School Lunch Detractors

First lady Michelle Obama has been under fire since interfering in school lunches, but through the power of her husband’s control over the Department of Education, she has come up with a solution. Kids who don’t want to eat the veggies in their school lunches can buy new “Vegetable Offsets” from the DOE.
Teens are supposed to be fed up to 2400 calories a day, and new government standards say that a lunch may not contain more than 850 calories. But the new school lunches stocked with vegetables and other “healthy” choices have been thoroughly hated by kids across the country and waste has become a problem as kids would rather throw away the bland, less-filling meals than eat them.
School authorities in Tavares, Florida are even threatening to put in “garbage cams” to take video of offending children throwing away the unwanted school meals. No word has been released on what punishments will be meted out to offending students caught throwing away their veggies.
In another case, kids in Kansas went so far as to create a video that went viral. The song’s refrain is “we are hungry.”
But in a ceremony in the Rose Garden Michelle Obama unveiled a new program to give kids a way to skip eating their veggies if they must. The First Lady calls her new program “Vegetable Offsets.”

This weekend’s release of Won’t Back Down has helped shine the spotlight on school choice. Heritage would like to keep it there, which is why we produced a short new video about the importance of parental choice in education.
Frustrated by the status quo and failing schools, more and more parents are demanding a choice for their children. That’s the plot of “Won’t Back Down,” which showcases how two committed parents take on the establishment. It’s based on actual events that stemmed from the parent-trigger law in California. The law allows parents to organize and, with the support of at least 50 percent, implement reform measures such as converting to a charter school or changing leadership.
>> Q&A: “Won’t Back Down” Producer Brings School Choice to Big Screen
With a cast of stars, including Maggie Gyllenhaal and Viola Davis, the movie has already prompted protests from union leaders like Randi Weingarten and opponents of school choice.
Education reformers appear to be winning. Last year was dubbed “The Year of School Choice” by the Wall Street Journal. More than a dozen states enacted school-choice legislation, empowering parents to choose a safe and effective education for their children. Heritage defines those choices as public, private, charter, online, and home school opportunities.
The video runs about two-and-a-half minutes. It was produced by Ben Howe of Mister Smith Media. For more videos from Heritage, subscribe to our YouTube channel.

The Baltimore Sun published a story this month revealing sympathy for a man being prosecuted for having passed the AIDS virus to a 13-year-old Maryland boy. Not sympathy for having done this horrid deed, of course, but sympathy for, in the Sun’s opinion, his being “over charged” by state prosecutors for the separate crime of knowingly passing the virus to the child, a felony under state law.
The 36-year-old man, one Steven Douglas Podles, contacted the boy through a gay hook-up phone ap called “Grindr.” He blithely claimed that all users of the ap are “supposed” to be 18, so he assumed the boy was of age. Regardless the state has charged him with a series of sex crimes including a little-used law that criminalizes the passing of the AIDS virus to unaware victims.
33 states, including Maryland, have made transmission of the HIV virus a crime and some defendants have been charged with attempted murder based on such statutes.
The Sun’s piece is mostly an excoriation of the whole idea of making it a crime to purposefully pass the HIV virus to unsuspecting partners.

In day two, the Chicago teachers strike is already starting to get vicious. In one of the many protests at least one protester was photographed holding a sign intimating that Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel is gay.
On the streets of Chicago, the Illinois Policy Institute found a protester carrying a sign that says, “Rahm Emanuel Likes Nickelback.”

You may not be aware of all the connotations of this sign. Firstly “Nickelback” is a Canadian rock band known for its somewhat sex-drenched lyrics. But the band is also a sort of slang for being gay among many kids these days. As the taunt goes, if you are a Nickelback fan, you’re gay.

Chicago’s Teachers Strike, Just Another Corrupt Union Powergrab

We’ve all heard the news of the strike forced on Chicago’s public schools by Chicago Teachers Union President Karen Lewis, I’m sure. Barely open for a week, the greedy teachers are now walking off the job but the main reasons for this strike presented by the CTU really don’t stand up to close scrutiny, for sure.
The CTU wants a 30% pay raise and they want class sizes to be made smaller.
For his part, Mayor Emanuel is saying that teachers union reps are fighting his desire to allow local school administrators do the hiring of any new teachers (because they know better what they need) but the union is insisting that they do the hiring.
The union also rejected a 16% pay raise offered by the city – itself an absurdly high number that shouldn’t have been offered in the first place.
In fact, these teachers don’t deserve ANY raise, much less a 30% or even a 16% raise. Only just over half the kids in Chicago now graduate with a high school diploma and, worse, at $76,000 annually, Chicago’s teacher already make more on average than most other teachers in the nation.
By contrast, Chicagoans only earn $47,000 a year on average, so these teachers are already making almost double what the rest of Chicago is making!

Recently, Gawker.com, a left-leaning and sometimes profane general interest website, posted a story that makes excuses for child rape, calling it an “orientation” instead of a crime and stating that raping children is “a sexual relationship,” as opposed to the violation that it truly is.
The piece entitled, “Born This Way: Sympathy and Science for Those Who Want to Have Sex with Children,” written by Gawker editor Cord Jefferson, is quite an outrage for its excuse making and its explaining away of pedophilia as a mere “sexual orientation.”
Cord’s piece begins by introducing us to pedophile named “Terry” and we are told that when he was 20 — he’s now 38 — he “began a sexual relationship” with a seven-year-old girl. That a child can engage in a “sexual relationship” is a disgusting characterization but Gawker simply states it as so without protest.
Throughout the piece passive language like this soft peddles child rape. Constantly we are told that sex between adults and children as a “choice.” “Terry” even claims that the sex he had with his seven-year-old niece was consensual and Gawker simply takes his word for it without protest.
Then the piece goes on to reveal the “expert” testimony of a psychologist that claims that pedophilia is a “sexual orientation” just like homosexuality or even heterosexuality.

You may be aware of the horrid song by Gotye called Somebody That I Used to Know. It is one of the worst songs I’ve ever heard. But that’s just me. Millions love the thing and it became quite a hit last year. It is so popular that many parodies of it have been posted to Youtube.
A pair of Harvard graduates got into the Gotye parody business, too, and their parody takes on Barack Obama in a most effective and devastating way. It ridicules the overly emotional high of “yes we can” and “hope and change” and reveals through the lyrics what a farce, a lie, a faux ad campaign Obama’s 2008 run for the White House really was.
The best line in this parody: “…but the change I got was that I moved in with my mother.”
If you can stomach the crappy tune that the parody folks were forced to use by choosing the Gotye song, this is a great video. Enjoy…

One of the more absurd aspects of the New York school system is that the teachers union is basically given the right to investigate itself when teachers are accused of sexual misconduct. Sadly, in too many cases the union sides with the criminal teachers instead of their victims.
In the Wall Street Journal, Campbell Brown laments this cozy relationship that unions have with their predator members citing several examples of the failure to punish criminal behavior in New York schools.
“If this kind of behavior were happening in any adult workplace in America, there would be zero tolerance. Yet our public school children are defenseless,” he writes.
This lack of punishment occurs, Brown says, because of how the law is written.

Our Socialist School Teachers

I am beginning to feel that there is no hope for many of our school teachers. They’ve become so infused with leftism that any semblance of Americanism is beyond their grasp. Even history is viewed from within a socialist prism as a recent editorial from a teacher from Pennsylvania proves.
In his editorial, teacher Robert J. Fisher of Upper Saucon Township sought to debunk what he called the “extreme right-wing elements” of today’s America. He did this by claiming that nearly every conflict in our history is some sort of example of Marxist class warfare.
For teacher Fisher, all of American history is one giant example of Marxist principles proven right. It doesn’t matter that the ideas of class as Marx described them really didn’t exist during all of American history, of course.
Fisher claims that “primitive Native Americans” and “subsistent frontiersmen from the Piedmont” were all engaged in class warfare with the “wealthier urban merchants and plantation owners.”
He goes on to claim that the Regulators in 1771 North Carolina, Shay’s rebellion (1787), and the earlier Bacon’s rebellion (1675) were all “class warfare.”
Then he says that the “powerful federal government” that Washington and his compatriots created was an attempt to “deal more effectively with such class-based rebellions.” His proof? The 1791 Whiskey Rebellion.
Fisher bounced to the Jacksonian era, saying that the President Andrew Jackson’s goal was “reform” America to allow “the common man” to become vested in the system then touted the Civil War as the biggest “class struggle” of them all.
And who else was a hero? Of course it was the rise of the labor union coupled with Franklin Roosevelt’s “New Deal” policies. These, he claims “helped create a vibrant middle class.”
All of this is skewed nonsense. The history of the United States cannot be so simplistically distilled as one of mere class warfare and it’s sad that this person who has been allowed to influence the minds of our children is so blinded by his Marxist theology that this is all he can see.
In fact, in nearly every case Fisher cites the Americans involved were not trying to tear down another class in order to “equalize” society. They did not consider themselves class warriors but people that aimed to advance to a better life themselves.
