Professor Jedediah Purdy Wants You Forced to Follow His Religion

Professor Jedediah Purdy of Duke University Law School feels that you are not thinking right and therefore he wants you forced through “conflict” to accept his religion.

I assure you that this wouldn’t be his interpretation of the under girding of the essay he disgorged at Politico last week, but that is exactly what he is advocating nonetheless because his entire recipe for fixing our political culture is built on a religious-like belief in shadowy crises that he feels are besetting the country.

In fact, even as he pretended to be offering a “fix” for our political gridlock, he offered no proof whatsoever that the problems he thinks we face are based in fact. His entire piece was based on bald-faced assumption, all are forces taken as a given with not a single word to actually prove that his perceptions were real problems, the sort we should engage in “real” conflict to resolve.

Sadly, the essential lie-stiffened backbone upon which he hung the skeleton of his argument is what passes for “deep thought” at our fetid universities these days.

We Need a New Declaration of Independence for a New Revolution

America is fast coming to a crossroads from which there will be no return if we take the wrong path. Do we take the road that leads away from America and toward a Euro-esque way of governing? Do we cast aside our American character and bury our great nation in a grave of socialist-styled authority? Do we damn our progeny to a failed superstate that violates every tenet of our original ideals?

I say we do not. I say we reject the Democrat’s Euro-esque ideas and refocus ourselves on American exceptionalism. Our federal system has strayed far from our founding ideals and we may soon find that it’s time for a new Declaration of Independence from a tyrannical government that has usurped power from proper authority.

Since it is Independence Day this weekend, I offer this new Declaration as a rallying cry to all those willing to return to our true American character…

Liberals Are Succeeding in Making Young People Less Patriotic

A new survey shows that liberal schools are succeeding in destroying the patriotism of America’s young people.

This survey shows that young people are less likely to view the American Flag or other traditional images of the USA as something that makes them “feel good.”

As The New York Times reported,

Seventy-eight percent of the older generation consider their American identity to be extremely important. That drops to 70 percent for baby boomers (50 to 68 years), 60 percent of Generation X’ers (34 to 49 years), and only 45 percent of young adults define themselves this way. And while 94 percent of the Silent Generation say that seeing the U.S. flag flying makes them feel extremely or very good, only 67 percent of millennials muster the same affection.

Calf. School Threatens to Expel Teen for Photo of Air Force Brother on Notebook

A teen in an advanced learning program at a California middle school was threatened with being kicked out of her program because she had a photo of her Air Force brother on a four-ring binder. This seems to be purely a case of another school being against the military.

The school, Golden Valley Middle School in San Bernardino, California, claimed that having photos on a binder broke the program’s policies. The girl, 13-year-old Brianna Gentry, also had photos of her little league ball team alongside the photo of her brother who is serving as a military policeman in Montana.

In an interview with KTLA TV, the girls said, “My brother’s very important to me. I haven’t seen him in a while.”

Officials at Brianna’s school told the girl that it was against the rules to have photos on her assignments binder and threatened to expel her from the advanced placement program called AVID.

Are The Religious More Tolerant Than Social Scientists?

A new book by science writer Nicholas Wade seeks to explore the possible connection between evolution and race but in a recent op ed the author points out that in some ways religious people have become more tolerant than those social scientists who think of themselves as being warriors against racism and ignorance.

The book, A Troublesome Inheritance: Genes, Race and Human History, is being attacked by those Ivory Tower profs in the social sciences. But with this attack they have proven themselves to have essentially become anti-intellectual and anti-science as the genome project expands humanity’s knowledge about the building blocks of our biology.

In a June 22 Wall Street Journal op ed, Mr. Wade seeks to expose the ignoramuses in the so-called social sciences.

New York Middle School Assignment Shows Kids How to Kill a Baby

It appears that a middle school in New York is training kids in how to shake a baby so hard that it kills them with a hands on assignment where kids are forced to shake a mechanical baby until it stops crying–i.e. until they shake it to death–in a class unit on Shaken Baby Syndrome.

Lennie Jarrett of ChampionNews.net spoke to the parent of a middle schooler in Churchville-Chili Middle School in Churchville, NY, earlier this week and the parent said that his child was traumatized by having been forced to “kill” a baby in class.

The father noted that the kids were told that shaking a baby too hard could kill it and offered the example of a man who was in jail for shaking his own child to death. Then kids were ordered to symbolically kill a baby right there in class using a mechanical baby.

If you’ll recall, the brief but noisy Occupy Wall street movement was all about protesting the “One Percent,” those evil rich folks that apparently return nothing to the nation. Well a look at the compensation of those at the University of Chicago in President Obama’s home city shows that the Occupy folks were protesting the wrong people! It looks like the one percent reside at the UofC.

A very in depth article by David Francis Mihalyfy reveals what he calls a university mired in outsized compensation “hidden by a PR machine, funded by growing tuition and debt, and allocated despite questionable job performance”

Mihalyfy serves up this damning assessment of the university in Obama’s Chicago:

I have been made aware that the great Jack Roeser passed away last night. This is a great loss to conservatism in Illinois, but Jack was in his 90s and in delicate health, so it isn’t a surprise, sadly.

Mr. Roeser was very generous with the fortune he built from the ground up as owner of Otto Engineering, a high tech firm located in Carpentersville, Illinois.

Roser was a hard charging conservative and often made folks both left and right mad at him for his choices of causes and candidates, but he was also unapologetic and fearless. In this day and age when people are always mewling and apologizing for their actions, you have to admire a real adult like Roeser making his choices and sticking with them regardless of the “consequences.”

Laszlo Bock, Senior Vice President, People Operations, has publicly spoken out about the “lack of diversity” among Google employees. Despite Google’s far left-wing company culture, he is apologetic and wants users to know that there are reasons that Google isn’t “diverse” enough.

The reliably left-wing Google has for years tried to hide its astonishing lack of diversity from public view, but has apparently decided to come clean.

In a May 28 Google blog post Bock finally made to lift the veil of secrecy in which Google had enshrouded its employment statistics and revealed that the company is mostly white and mostly male.

It is the time of year for high schools everywhere to begin electing their prom kings and queens. But a high school in Danbury, Connecticut went a different way this year nominating an openly gay male student as both its king and its queen.

17-year-old Nasir Fleming says he grew up being bullied over his sexual orientation but being elected by his fellow students as the school’s prom queen is “sending a message” that bullying is not cool.

The young man says he was not expecting to win but when he did the school erupted in applause.

“I was flabbergasted,” he told the Danbury News Times. “The audience was surprised and extremely supportive. The audience was more excited than I was,” he said.

Oh, he thought that just because he had billions of dollars, all he had to do was flit into a New Jersey school system, spread some of his cash around, and voila kids would get a “good” education. But reality was a different thing as when Mark Zuckerberg tried it, he found that the greedy teachers union stole all the cash and his millions didn’t help the kids at all.

Yes, Facebook Billionaire Mark Suckerberg–er, I mean Zuckerberg–was mugged by reality and found out exactly why Johnny can’t read. Because our system of mis-education is held prisoner to the anti-education, greedy, uncaring, left-wing teachers unions who don’t give a flying fig about the kids. It’s all about them stealing as much cash out of the system for their bloated pensions and high-salaried union bosses as humanely possible quite despite whether it hurts the kids or not.

In 2010 super rich Suckerberg gave $100 million big ones to help turn around Newark, New Jersey’s failing schools. He made a big show of the whole thing, too, even making his announcement on the Oprah show.

U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder told graduates in Maryland that they should ignore “hateful rants” like that from Clippers owner Donald Sterling. Holder said that voter ID and “zero tolerance” policies in schools are worse on minorities than anything Sterling could have done.

Speaking before 850 graduates at Baltimore’s Morgan State University on Saturday, May 17, Holder warned students not to get caught up in the hype of “intolerant public statements,” but to be more worried about the racism inherent in the U.S.A.

“…policies that disenfranchise specific groups are more pernicious than hateful rants,” Holder told the students.

Holder’s commencement address comes amid a flurry of cancellations by other speakers who were protested by students across the country. Actions that one New Republic writer saidis an example of how “The rise of liberal intolerance [that] is ruining debate on college campuses.”

Middle School Cancels ‘Honors’ Night Because it Hurts Feeeeelings

A middle school in Rhode Island had canceled its night meant to honor students who achieved excellent grades because officials felt that the annual honors ceremony would hurt the self esteem of those more stupid kids who didn’t get top grades.

Parents whose children attend the Archie R. Cole Middle School in East Greenwhich, RI, were sent an email this week telling them that the annual honors night was canceled because administrators were wringing their liberal hands over the “exclusive nature” of the ceremony.

“Members of the school community have long expressed concerns related to the exclusive nature of Honors Night,” the email began.

The school wanted to eliminate a special night to honor kids with high grades or excellence in extra curricular activities and instead have individual, smaller ceremonies based within the events, teams or classes where the kids excelled. This would have eliminated the greater recognition of the high achievers and served to create more understated, less public displays of recognition. In other words, the school-wide platform of recognition would be eliminated replaced by quieter recognition that would not hurt the dumb kids’ feelings.

Taking a page out of the political handbook of every fascist society and dystopian Sci Fi novel, Michelle Obama is telling kids to monitor their parents for crimes against the state.

The woman who was never proud of her country until she and her husband were deposited in the White House spoke to a class in Topeka, Kansas last Friday where she told students to monitor their parents for racist speech because she and her hubby can only do so much without good little informants like them back home.

Obama told students that our laws “may no longer separate us” based on race. But she complained that the Constitution can’t force us to “eat together in the lunchroom, or live together in the same neighborhoods.” She then said, “There’s no court case against believing in stereotypes or thinking that certain kinds of hateful jokes or comments are funny.”

When one thinks about unions, one usually assumes that it is an organization geared toward guarding the interests of its members, the average, every day worker. But in Michigan that notion seems almost quaint. No, in Michigan, the unions are guarding the interests of union bigwigs and actually dealing away the benefits of members to keep the unions toughs in clover.

Union thugs in the Wyoming Public Schools district near Grand Rapids, Michigan, has negotiated away up to $12,700 in annual salary and benefits for teachers just so it can try and keep a provision in the contract that allows the union to forcibly withhold dues money out of teachers paychecks as a mandatory condition of employment–a provision that now stands contrary to state law, by the way.

Over a three-year period, 2009-2012, Department of Justice data shows American taxpayers footed the bill for more than $53 million in so-called environmental groups’ legal fees–and the actual number could be much higher. The real motivation behind the Endangered Species Act (ESA) litigation, perhaps, could have more to do with vengeance and penance than with a real desire to protect flora and fauna.

On May 7, I spoke at the Four Corners Oil and Gas Conference in Farmington, New Mexico. During the two-day event, I sat in on many of the other sessions and had conversations with dozens of attendees. I left the event with the distinct impression that the current implementation of the ESA is a major impediment to the economic growth, tax revenue, and job creation that comes with oil-and-gas development. I have written on ESA issues many times, most recently I wrote about the lesser prairie chicken’s proposed “threatened” listing (which the Fish and Wildlife Service [FWS] listed on March 27) and the Oklahoma Attorney General’s lawsuit against the federal government over the “sue and settle” tactics of FWS and the Department of the Interior.

While at the conference, I received an email announcing that FWS has asked a federal court for a six-month delay in making a final determination on whether to list the Gunnison sage grouse as an endangered species–moving the decision past the November elections. Up for re-election, Senator Mark Udall (D-CO) “cheered” the extension request. The E & E report states: Colorado elected leaders “fear the listing could have significant economic impacts.”

A Broward County, Florida public school teacher sought to ban an elementary school student from reading the Bible or any religious book during an independent reading time where kids are required to pick their own books to read.

The teacher, an African American teacher named Mrs. Thomas, called the parents of fifth-grade Park Lakes Elementary School student Giovanni Rubeo demanding that they agree with her that religious books are banned from public schools and hinting that they need to punish their child.

This teacher also made a big show out of scolding the child in the classroom, too. When she saw that the child was reading the Bible she made him put the book down on the desk right there in the classroom and then immediately demanded he get his parents on the phone.

This teacher’s actions were obviously meant as a warning to the other kids, too.

When the teacher called the parents she left a message:

Since the 1960s the American University as an institution has ceased to be geared for education. It has, instead, become an institution geared to the indoctrination of an anti-American leftism that is wholly anti-intellectual. This is something that a member of the American Enterprise Institute recently saw first hand, but he isn’t the only one.

Murray, a libertarian political scientist, author, columnist, and a fellow at AEI, had for months been scheduled to speak at Azusa Pacific University about his new book, The Curmudgeon’s Guide to Getting Ahead, but only a day before his scheduled appearance, the university sudden revoked his invitation.

The Confederate flag has a very long and controversial history, to be sure. But a recent CBS report on a flag dustup in a school in Missouri shows just how slipshod journalism is today.

So, as the story goes, some kids at a Kansas City suburban high school have been playing with the Confederate battle flag lately and despite that there is no real news in the incident, the story made the news. Naturally the agenda journalists at CBS radio, KMOX, St. Louis tried their hardest to make it a story about “RAAAAAAAACISM!” despite that there doesn’t seem to be any proof at all that race is really a part of the story.

The report quotes a girl who noted that “some boy” was wearing a 3X5 sized C.S. flag as a cape and parading around “as if he was Superman or something.”

The assistant principal, as kill-joy officials are wont to do, took the flag away from the kid for whatever reason… not that school officials ever think they need a reason to take things away from kids, of course.

Aurora’s Democrat State Representative, Linda Chapa LaVia, decided to let her racist flag fly on the floor of the House earlier this week when she called a bi-racial Republican a”half” of a minority during a debate on her failed teachers union-backed attempt to harm Illinois’ charter schools.

Chapa LaVia was pleading with the minorities in the chamber telling them that only they really care about education in Illinois when she turned toward her right where Rep. John D. Anthony (R, Morris) was sitting whereupon she slammed him as only “half” a minority.

Of course, even by any measure of the left’s ideas of what a “minority” is ancestors wise Anthony fits the bill. He is part Africa and part Hispanic having a Puerto Rican background. He was a policeman and was elected as a Republican in 2013.

Ah, but there is Chapa LaVia’s racist clap trap coming into play, isn’t it? You see, merely being a Republican is enough for Chapa LaVia to claim that Anthony is only “half” a minority.

Brandeis University withdrew its offer of an honorary degree to women’s rights activist Ayaan Hirsi Ali this month, sparking criticism for bowing to anti-American pressure brought against the university by Muslim groups.

Ayaan Hirsi Ali is a well known women’s rights advocate who has been fighting against the excesses of radical Islam were its constant violation concerns women’s rights and specifically against the brutal, inhuman practice of ritual female mutilation.

These are very worthy activities to celebrate and apparently Brandeis thought so, too… at least for a while. That is, until Muslims who celebrate the mutilation and oppression of women objected to the offer of the honorary degree to Miss Ali and demanded that the university withdraw its offer.

Sadly, 85 of the universities ignorant “professors” agreed with the mutilators and signed a petition demanding that their employers remove Ali from the honorary list.

In its reversal, the university said of Ali, “She is a compelling public figure and advocate for women’s rights, and we respect and appreciate her work to protect and defend the rights of women and girls throughout the world. That said, we cannot overlook certain of her past statements that are inconsistent with Brandeis University’s core values.”

Remember, liberals say that we need to be “tolerant” of Muslims in the U.S. because, gosh darn it, they are Americans just like you and me. While you are remembering that, Muslims in Dearborn, Michigan are trying to oppress a local Christian Church because it is hosting an Easter egg hunt. Proof that Muslims are just as American and tolerant as you and me.

As it happens, Cherry Hill Presbyterian Church sent a bunch of fliers about their secular Easter egg hunt to a local school district as an out reach effort into the community. The church says that the event is just a community event and does not feature any religious content.

The flier features images of Easter eggs and an Easter bunny. Naturally Muslims in Dearborn are furious and want to behead someone over the matter. OK, maybe just figuratively–for now–as they want to know who in the school district allowed the Church’s flier to be handed out to kids.

They will wait until they get in charge to begin the literal beheadings, of course.

Anyway, the Muslims claim that handing out the fliers is some sort of violation of Church and State–says people who want their church to become the state.

Common Core Worksheet Tells Kids to Chose 2 Amendments to Remove from Constitution

Controversy has erupted over a Common Core team assignment at a middle school in Arkansas requiring students to decide which two amendments to remove from the Bill of Rights in the U.S. Constitution.

The assignment from the Bryant School District in Bryant, Ark., titled an “Assessment over The Bill of Rights,” tasked kids with deciding which two amendments in the Bill of Rights have become “outdated,” or have outlived their usefulness and should be removed from the law of the land.

The worksheet presents kids with the premise that there “has been a lot of controversy lately surrounding the War on Terror” and that many Americans feel the Patriot Act is a threat to our privacy and liberty while others feel it helps protect us. Therefore, the worksheet notes, the “government of the United States” has “determined that [The Bill of Rights] is outdated.”

Students are then informed that they have been appointed as a member of the “National Revised Bill of Rights Task Force” and they need to decide which amendments should be eliminated to modify the Constitution to better fit into a new era of massive government surveillance.

Did you think that math was a subject that is by its very nature free of political ideology? Did you think that math was just, well, math? Maybe it won’t surprise you that Chicago teachers union chief, Karen Lewis, disagrees with you and thinks that math isn’t just math but should also be a platform to push left-wing “social justice” propaganda on students.

The rotund Lewis made her pronouncements at an education conference called the Network for Public Education conference held on March 1, 2014 in Austin, Texas.

During her remarks Lewis praised the efforts of extremist left-winger Bob Peterson who is unfortunately in charge of the Milwaukee, Wisconsin teachers union. Peterson wrote a book that is used in the classroom to push left-wing ideology on kids and Lewis thinks everyone should emulate that.

The U.S. Constitution says that our Second Amendment rights shall not be infringed. That’s pretty straightforward. But a middle school in Illinois has decided that shall not really means that you have no rights unless government says you are allowed to have them.

According to a workbook handout from Grant Middle School in Springfield, Illinois–that happens to be the capital city of the most corrupt state in America–Americans only have Second Amendment rights if they go and “register” with government and if government has decided they are worthy of being allowed those rights. Where I am Quoted in a Book on Islam

March 23, 2014 | Filed Under Books, Education, Islam, Koran, Religion, Warner Todd Huston | Comments Off

-By Warner Todd Huston

OK, here is something odd. I just found out I was quoted in the book “Islam without Extremes: a Muslim case for liberty” by Mustafa Akyol published a few years ago. (Norton Press, 2011)

The book is apparently an attempt to reconcile Islam with western ideals of liberty and freedom.

I found the quote through a review of the book by Gamal Nkrumah of Al-Ahram Weekly, a newspaper from Cairo, Egypt. Nkrumah notes that Akyol quoted me saying this: “We need to understand just how brutal Islam is in how it treats its most vulnerable members: girls and women.” (In Akyol’s book on page 31)

This quote of mine is from an article in which I was discussing the criminal act of female circumcision practiced by Muslims. (Muslim mutilation of little girl in Atlanta, Georgia)

Akyol said I was wrong to put female circumcision on Islam proper because, he says, it is a cultural idea not one prescribed by the Koran. Me, I don’t see a difference because practitioners say they are doing it in the name of Islam and until the practice is stopped (by Muslims) it is a integral part of their religious practices.

Anyway, I found it interesting that I was quoted in this book and that I was wholly unaware of it until now.

I know that I have had my work printed in two college textbooks, but it makes me wonder how many other books I appear in out there?

Not bragging. More like it amuses me.

‘Queer Theory’ Professor Charged For Assaulting a Teenaged Pro-Life Demonstrator

This story updated HERE.

Yesterday I wrote about how Democrats in Cincinnati threw a big welcome home party for a criminal convicted of vote fraud. Even MSNBC’s Al Sharpton, a man guilty of inciting to murder, came on down to Cincy to celebrate this criminal. Well, now, with the tale of a “queer theory” professor from the U of California who has been charged of physically assaulting a teenaged girl who was protesting abortion, I have yet another story that shows that to be a Democrat/liberal/communist is to be a supporter and promulgator of crime.

To recap, the Cincy story was that of vote fraud criminal Melowese Richardson who was convicted of voting six times in the 2012 elections. Race agitators convinced the state to release this criminal after only a few months in jail because RAAAAAAAACISM. Upon release, local Democrats and national headliners threw a big party for her celebrating her criminality and urging everyone to be juuuuuust like her.

I was noting that even though Democrats are criminals as a matter of course, at least they had the decency in days past to be ashamed of being convicted of some crime or another and acted duly chastised. These days they have no shame whatsoever and actually celebrate their criminal behavior as is obvious by the gala celebration given the Cincy criminal.

Well, this week we se yet another example of this criminality celebrated as all things good and right.
