Foolish Sci Fi Geeks Celebrate Chinese Government’s New Sci Fi ‘Award’

Foolish Sci Fi Geeks Celebrate Chinese Government’s New Sci Fi ‘Award’

-By Warner Todd Huston

A left-wing science fiction site hosted by the Gawker chain of websites recently posted a silly, fawning article revealing that the Chinese government is sponsoring a new “major science fiction award.” It was a piece that wholly ignored the autocratic and murderous history of the Chinese government and ridiculously treated this “award” as a legitimate celebration of the arts.

The website i09,com posted a piece (June 4, “The Chinese Government is Setting Up Its Own Major Science Fiction Award“) by blogger Andrew Liptak who revealed himself to be absolutely clueless about how oppressive China is and seemed to assume that China–being just like every western country–is just doing the world a service with its new “award” instead of creating a scheme whereby an authoritarian government will control “art”–or at the very least holding up state propaganda as worthy of awards.

“This is pretty interesting,” Liptak says as he begins his slobbering article, “during the latest national congress of the China Association for Science and Technology, chairman Han Qide announced that the country would be setting up a program to promote science fiction and fantasy, including the creation of a new major award.”

Now, let’s first wonder exactly what liberals like Mr. Liptak and his audience would say if the U.S. government–or any western government, for that matter–were to announce it intended to meddle in a field of literature like this. Mr. Liptak would be one of the first to denounce the intentions and to scream that said government would be merely spreading propaganda and not the art of literature. Or at the very least he’d be uncomfortable with the idea of a government promoting art for fear that it would eventually turn to pushing pro-government propaganda.

But in Liptak’s piece we get not a whiff that he should be worried that the Chinese government would use its award not to celebrate art on its own merit but rather to further the communist government’s message.

Guy Ritchie’s ‘Man From U.N.C.L.E.’ Movie Premiere Swag

Guy Ritchie’s ‘Man From U.N.C.L.E.’ Movie Premiere Swag

-By Warner Todd Huston

Fans of the hit 1960s TV show “The Man From U.N.C.L.E.” had been waiting nearly 50 years to finally get a new adventure and the many decades of waiting finally ended in August of 2015 when director Guy Ritchie’s re-telling of the TV series debuted on movie screens the world over. This page is dedicated to some of the swag given out to those lucky who were invited to the film’s various premieres across the world.

I personally didn’t make any of the premieres and had to watch the movie like a commoner (after it opened wide in theaters), but I have come across a large number of the items that fans and moviegoers were given at the special screenings as the movie burst forth to great reviews… and, sadly, low audience turnout.

Here is the official trailer of the film to whet your appetite…

As I said, most reviewers loved Ritchie’s vision of U.N.C.L.E. calling it a smart, sexy, 1960s spy extravaganza. Unfortunately, for whatever reason, not enough movie goers turned up at theaters to make it a hit. Oh, it was no dismal failure, but for old time U.N.C.L.E. fans who were hoping this film would spur a new series of big screen adventures, well, let’s just say the hope ended in disappointment.

There could be a sequel, yet, but it doesn’t look good.

Anyway, here is a photo essay of the items handed out at the premieres and a few other assorted items associated with the film. I’ll start with the most common items and after that get to the ones which are a bit farther and fewer between.

One of the 27 X 40 movie posters seen outside the theaters. This one was also handed out in an 11X17 version at theaters (I also have that one).

Another one of the more common posters for the film

These vinyl signs where what one would see in the frames over the door of the theater at the local multiplex. These, of course, weren’t given to moviegoers.

These gray T-Shirts were handed out by the hundreds and are the most common shirt for the new U.N.C.L.E.

There’s no spy stealth if you’re wearing THESE big buttons on your shirt, but fans will know ya, anyway!

Sunglasses were featured heavily in this stylish flick, so the promo department made up some special U.N.C.L.E. sunglasses for fans to take home.

Of course, no smart phone was in the movie as it was an early 1960s period piece, but everyone has cell phones today, right? These were all over the place.

Some moviegoers were luck enough to be given one of these very nice hot/cold metal tumblers.

Every spy needs to stay hydrated, so these water bottles were also given to fans.

Now we are starting to get to the items that were given out in smaller numbers. This all black T-Shirt with yellow lettering isn’t nearly as common as the gray one above.

For those who had too many U.N.C.L.E. items to carry, these handy vinyl shoulder bags were also distributed.

Just in case you need to take some notes in your spy notebook, they gave out these ball point pens, too.

If you were lucky, you were handed a nice, high quality black baseball cap with your favorite U.N.C.L.E. slogan embroidered onto it.

Now we are back to cell phones, again. Even though you aren’t supposed to use your phone in the theater, they did give out a few external cell phone re-chargers like this one. But not many of these were given out.

I think these computer memory sticks were only given to fans in Europe. But I may be wrong about that.

This external iPhone speaker did not have the U.N.C.L.E. logo on it. The outside clamshell, though, is also white like many of the other plastic items, so it does match the color scheme of many of the handouts.

One of the very cool costume choices in the film was Illya’s flat cap. So, anticipating that, the promo department made up at least two different versions of it for fans. These were not handed out a whole lot, though. The darker gray one is of higher quality that the tannish one, I must say.

Underneath the three buttons, there, you can see the girl’s T-Shirt. It is a long sleeved affair that is long enough to go over the girl’s hips. It has the yellow segment at the bottom with the U.N.C.L.E. logo printed on it.

Fans in Australia were the lucky recipients of this gold vinyl makeup case, apparently trying to raise interest in the female fans.

The next few things were handed out only to the press as far as I know. This full-sized, serviceable backpack is an example.

This is a very nice Stormtech 35L Waterproof, Rolltop Backpack (WXP-1). Not a ton of these were made, for sure.

Now, I don’t have this item–YET–but members of the press (at least in New Zealand) were also given an U.N.C.L.E. umbrella. This is a photo of Threads editor Megan Robinson who received her U.N.C.L.E. umbrella when she attended the movie premiere in New Zealand. You can’t clearly see all of the parasol, but you get the idea from Megan’s snap shot.(Photo used by permission)

Here is a sleeve of unused movie postcards. I am somewhat unclear of where these came from, though.

Next are some items only the cast and crew of the film received (and me, of course). This hoodie sweat jacket was only given to set visitors and movie cast and crew members.

This is a pretty rare Barbour Liddesdale Crew Jacket also given out only to those who worked on the film itself.

Here is an example of one of the booklets used to help crew members plan their work days.

So, there you have it, folks. If you went to one of the many premieres across the world in 2015, you might have gone home with some or all of these items.

I must say that I know vaguely of a few other items connected to the shoot. Apparently Henry Cavill (Napoleon Solo) gave the cast and crew a special limited edition coin as a keepsake for working on the film. I’ve never seen it and only heard tell of it. Also there was some sort of photo book assembled for the crew at the end of the project. That is another item I only heard of second hand and have never seen. There may have been a few other stray items here and there and if I learn more about them or actually get my hands on any, I’ll update this post.

Finally, if you have or know of more swag from the 2015 U.N.C.L.E. premiere that I don’t have here, do contact me and let me know.

New Issue of Marvel’s Captain America Says Criticism of Syrian Refugees is Like Nazism

New Issue of Marvel’s Captain America Says Criticism of Syrian Refugees is Like Nazism

-By Warner Todd Huston

Marvel Comics is once again re-launching its universe of comic books and in the newest iteration of Captain America readers are told that those who oppose the importation of Muslim “refugees” are somehow as bad as the Nazis.

This month issue number one of the new title Steve Rogers: Captain America will feature long-time Cappy foe the Red Skull, a super villain who originated as a Nazi bad guy in World War Two. And as the preview at Comic Book Resources reveals, the evil Nazi Red Skull delivers a major anti-refugee speech.

“I have just come from Europe–my homeland, in fact,” Red Skull says to a group of thuggish acolytes in the upcoming issue. “And do you know what I saw there? It was an invading army. These so-called ‘refugees’–millions of them–marching across the continent, bringing their fanatical beliefs and their crime with them. They attack our women, and bomb our cities. And how do our leaders respond? Do they push them back and enforce the borders, as is our sovereign duty? Of course not. They say, ‘Here, take our food. Take our shelter. Take our way of life, and then take our lives.’ Despicable.”

Red Skull goes on to ridicule “tolerance” and incite race hate by encouraging the group of men to start a new race war in the name of the evil organization Hydra, another one of Steve Rogers’ long-time foes.

Apparently, as far as Marvel Comics is concerned, if you oppose bringing in hundreds of thousands of illegal Muslim immigrants, then you are as bad as an evil Nazi war criminal.

The ‘Bechdel Test’ Proves How Feckless Liberalism and Radical Feminism Really Are

The ‘Bechdel Test’ Proves How Feckless Liberalism and Radical Feminism Really Are

-By Warner Todd Huston

Conservatives like to scoff at the stuff and nonsense that is modern liberalism and its attack on traditional values and the so-called Bechdel Test is a perfect example of this foolishness of the liberal/feminist milieu. The very fact this “test” is even a thing shows how feckless and silly feminism and liberalism are.

For those blissfully unaware, the Bechdel Test is a way to ascertain if a TV show or movie pays enough fealty to feminism. The “test” measures how often two female characters talk to each other about men — whether it be a potential boy friend, a current boy friend, or a husband, or an object of desire or even a father figure. The purported goal of the test is to ascertain whether the characters are indulging the stereotype of women being fixated on pursuing men or otherwise showing they are somehow subservient to the male of the species.

The test may seem simple enough — are women in the film more worried about the men in the film or are they portrayed as more well rounded characters with a richer, deeper development? But in fact, it is meaningless box checking that ignores context and the actual story of the show.

But more significant is the fact that this whole “test” is based on a joke. No, really… an actual joke.

‘Chicago Tribune’ Critic Slams America’s Love of Entertaining Super Bowl Ads

‘Chicago Tribune’ Critic Slams America’s Love of Entertaining Super Bowl Ads

-By Warner Todd Huston

A Chicago Tribune TV critic was aghast that Americans often enjoy the commercials during the Super Bowl. Apparently he was upset about all that capitalism going on and mad that Americans don’t rise up and throw their shoes at their TVs in revolt. Corporations are apparently all venal and wasteful, he alleges, and we shouldn’t stand for it.

In his February 5 critique, Trib’s TV scribe Phil Rosenthal got his dander up several days before the Super Bowl as the nation had already begun talking about the commercials everyone was looking forward to seeing. The prospects of capitalism seemed to have put Rosenthal in a foul mood.

The columnist’s first assumption about why we enjoy many of the commercials was one literally no one believes.

“It’s as if the fact that some marketer spent $5 million per half minute — up about 11 percent from $4.5 million last year — to pitch more than 100 million of us in the Super Bowl 50 audience obliges us to actually pay attention,” he wrote.

No one watches Super Bowl commercials imagining they are obligated to do so because they are so expensive to air. No one.

But from this argument so early in his piece, one can begin to note the anti-corporate and anti-capitalist bent of the rest of the article.

Liberalism Drips From ‘X-files’ Reboot, Slams Fox News and the Second Amendment

Liberalism Drips From ‘X-files’ Reboot, Slams Fox News and the Second Amendment

-By Warner Todd Huston

On Sunday evening after football the eagerly awaited first installment of the six-part “X-Files” reboot aired on Fox. Unfortunately, the writers let their liberalism interfere with common sense story telling as the first half of the show featured slams n Fox News host Bill O’Reilly and an attack on America’s right to keep and bear arms.

The mini-series begins with the ostensibly conservative host of an internet-based TV show seeking out our intrepid FBI agents Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson). The character’s name is a not-so-subtle allusion to Bill O’Reilly and the connection is made all the more tangible when O’Reilly is even cited as another crazy, conservative, conspiracy theorist.

The web TV host character is unsubtly named “Tad O’Malley” (Joel McHale) and the first words we hear from him are when Mulder brings his show up on a laptop computer.

Mulder opens his lap top to reveal an appearance of Barack Obama on the Jimmy Kimmel show playing across the screen. The FBI agent switches his screen to the “Tad O’Malley” show and we hear the host saying, “…it comes down to this: It’s the mainstream liberal media lying to you about life, liberty, and your god given right to bear arms.”

Immediately Mulder asks, “Why would I watch this jackass, Scully?”

Miss America Contestant Says This Despite Undercover Videos Exposing Planned Parenthood

Miss America Contestant Says This Despite Undercover Videos Exposing Planned Parenthood

-By Warner Todd Huston

During a question and answer period at the 2016 Miss America Competition, Hannah Robison, the contestant from Tennessee, seemed to offer in her reply what was more like left-wing propaganda than fact by among other things perpetuating the myth that Planned Parenthood is a big purveyor of mammograms to poor and disadvantaged women.

One-time disgraced Miss America, actress Vanessa Williams, asked Miss Tennessee about her thoughts on the move in Congress to defund Planned Parenthood.

“Some legislators,” Williams asked Miss Tennessee, “are threatening to shut down the government over federal contributions to Planned Parenthood, even though no federal funds can be used for abortions. Should Planned Parenthood funding be cut off?”

Sadly, Hannah Robison replied with what seemed like a paid ad for Planned Parenthood, one filled with several lies and inaccuracies.

“I don’t think Planned Parenthood funding should be cut off,” Robinson said. “The $500 million that gets given to Planned Parenthood every single year goes to female care. It goes for scanning for cancer, it goes for mammograms. And if we don’t give that funding to Planned Parenthood, those women will be out of health care for reproductive causes.”

All of this is, of course, untrue. Planned Parenthood offers comparatively little by way of “health care” for women while the largest amount of its funding goes to its abortion mill services. Further, it doesn’t offer any mammogram services at all.

Spanish Language Media Calling Donald Trump ‘Hitler’

-By Warner Todd Huston

As the Trump campaign rolls onward, Spanish language media in the U.S. are turning increasingly hostile with the real estate mogul being called everything from Hitler to a monkey.

Tempers flared at a recent Trump press conference when activist Univision TV personality Jorge Ramos leapt to his feet to interrupt the questions from other reporters and threw out a series of rapid fire statements and but no questions.

Trump had Ramos removed for the disruption, but then relented letting the activist TV star to engage him in a debate on some of the candidate’s immigration ideas.

Ramos has admitted that he isn’t really covering Trump as a reporter because Trump’s comments are “personal” to him.

Red Skelton’s Pledge Of Allegiance

-By Warner Todd Huston

This Independence Day holiday is an excellent time to revisit one of Red Skelton’s most endearing works: his recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance and what that pledge means.

Through the 40s, 50s, and 60s, Red Skelton was one of America’s most revered funny men. He was everywhere in movies and all across the early TV. Skelton may be little known by today’s newer generations, but he is someone we should never forget for his patriotism and clean humor.

He made quite a splash in 1969 with his personalized pledge of Allegiance.

You don’t get patriotic entertainment like this anymore…

In the words of Red Skelton:

Racist Actor George ‘Mr. Sulu’ Takei Calls Black Man a ‘Clown in Black Face’

-By Warner Todd Huston

Is the out and proud gay Star Trek actor a racist for calling a black man a “clown in black face”? Usually the left attacks racists like this for this kind of hate speech? Of course, the left won’t attack in this case because “Mr. Sulu” just attacked Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, a black man that the left claims “isn’t really black.”

Takei made his racist comment during an interview on a local Phoenix Fox News affiliate. He was on to talk about his views on gay marriage, an issue on which he’s become a loud national supporter.

Takei attacked Thomas for saying that slavery was “dignified” and then couched his discussion of American slavery by quoting a movie. Yes, a movie. Takei thinks movies tell us all we need to know about America history.

Here is what Takei said…

Illinois Still Pushing a Tax on Satellite TV Providers

-By Warner Todd Huston

Last month I noted that the Illinois state legislature is still pushing yet another tax to bedevil its already over taxed citizenry with the plan to push a tax on satellite TV providers. That plan has not abated.Unfortunately, it is just another example of Illinois burdening it citizens because of the failure of the politicians.

Recently Illinois State Representative Art Turner (D-09) floated the idea of in 2012, but was never signed into law.

Bill Nye the Liar Guy Claims ‘Science Funding’ Is In The US Constitution

-By Warner Todd Huston

Why, didn’t you know, America, that the Founders were so far reaching that they put global warming funding right in the U.S. Constitution? Well, that is what Bill Nye the not-so-sciencey guy is claiming, anyway.

The guy who plays a scientist on TV, but actually has no science degrees at all, told Vox.com that the U.S. Constitution makes provisions to fund science, so being anti-global warming means you hate the founders… or something.

Here is what Bill Nye the actor guy told Vox:

When you have people denying this basic process, and how we all got here, it’s offensive to me intellectually. And I happen to think it’s unpatriotic. Article I, Section 8 of the Constitution says the government shall “promote the progress of science and useful arts.” So if you’re a politician looking to derail the progress of science, I think you’re not doing your job.

I want voters and taxpayers to recognize this. Do you really want to vote for somebody who doesn’t believe in the scientific method — and doesn’t believe that we defeated smallpox? Do you really want that person running your government?

Of course, this is all built on a lie. The U.S. Constitution says no such thing.

With Ben Affleck Flap, PBS Again Proves it is a Left Wing Shill

With Ben Affleck Flap, PBS Again Proves it is a Left Wing Shill

-By Warner Todd Huston

PBS is not fair or balanced and nothing it does can be trusted. We see this claim fully validated with how the network bent over for actor Ben Affleck’s demand that his slave-owning ancestry be eliminated from a recent program tracing the actor’s family.

PBS had Affleck on its show “Finding Your Roots” to trace his family history and learn of his lineage. But during the process, PBS discovered that the actor had slave owners in his family tree. Affleck was not having any of that, though, and demanded that the show edit out any of that reality. Affleck didn’t want his slave history known by the public.

Instead of retaining its integrity, PBS kowtowed to Affleck’s demands and agreed to excise all mentions from the show of the truth of his family tree.

We know all this because of an email hacker, not because PBS reported the truth to the country that pays its bills with tax dollars.

Physicians Want Dr. Oz Removed from Columbia University Board Over His Bad Medical Advice

-By Warner Todd Huston

On Friday, TVs “Dr. Oz,” Doctor Mehmet Oz, was once again forced to defend himself this time after a group of physicians at Columbia University demanded he be removed from the board over what they claim is his pushing of bad science and unsound medical advice.

Oz responded after the group of Doctors forwarded a letter to the university asking the school to dismiss the TV doc from its board.

The letter charges that Oz is a “fake and a charlatan.” The letter continues saying, “Dr. Oz has repeatedly shown disdain for science and for evidence-based medicine.”

Media Bias: CNN Lies Saying GOP Wants to ‘End Health Care for Millions

-By Warner Todd Huston

Everyday the media lies to America about what conservatives and the Republican Party want to do with their policy ideas and CNN just uncorked a doosie of a lie about Obamacare.

Above is a screen shot of what appeared on CNN on March 5, 2015.

At noon on Thursday CNN was caught lying claiming that the GOP-led efforts to defeat Obamacare will “end health care for millions.” This is nothing but a blatant, scurrilous lie.

First of all, even Obamacare isn’t even offering anyone any health care. It is offering insurance polices for health care, not health care itself.

It’s ‘Elementary’: Another TV Show Reveals Anti-Gun Ignorance

-By Warner Todd Huston

During last Thursday’s broadcast of the CBS mystery series Elementary, a modernized take on Sherlock Holmes, we got yet another woeful example of the anti-gun foolishness we see on network TV. In the case of this show we not only got another I hate guns speech from the star of the show, we also got a whole lot of bull crap presented as gun “facts.”

Now, in this series the main character played by English actor Johnny Lee Miller, presented as a genius, is chasing down a murderer who used a gun to kill several people. As the plot trudged onward to the final chapter, Sherlock Holmes noted that they found out about the gun used in the crime. At one point, Holmes says he had “traced back to a private trader at a gun show in Virginia.”

But before he continued about this purported “tracing,” Holmes snarked about how monstrous America was because you could buy a gun from a gun dealer at a gun show and skip all that darned ol’ background checking and paperwork.

Racist 60 Minutes Reporter Steve Kroft Told His Black Mistress Not to Dress ‘Like Beyonce’

Steve Kroft, one of the cue card readers on the CBS “news” show “60 Minutes,” has made himself notable–or maybe notorious–for telling his black mistress that he doesn’t want to be seen in public with her and that she shouldn’t dress “like Beyonce.”

Kroft, who has been married to author and journalist Jennet Conant for 23 years, was caught cheating on his wife with a black hottie named Lisan Goines. The New York Post got hold of some steamy texts between Goines and Kroft that revealed that the long-time NBC on-air talent is a bit of a jerk.

Historical Ignorance: Anti-Gun TV President Claims Slavery is ‘In The Constitution’

-By Warner Todd Huston

The faux President of the United States on the ABC TV show Scandal gave one of those typically left-wing TV speeches that is more like an uninformed screed meant to push a leftist agenda than truthful commentary. In this case the actor pretending to be president scorned the Second Amendment and then said incorrectly that slavery was enshrined in the U.S. Constitution.

On the TV show, “President” Fitzgerald Grant (Tony Goldwyn) noted that the Second Amendment was “set in stone” in the Constitution, then as an aside said, “So was slavery, by the way.”

No it wasn’t… by the way. It is a lie the left tells.

In the show the “president’s” son was killed in a mass school shooting sending this “President” into his screed.

Here was the relevant part of the segment.

FDR Invented The ‘Liar-In-Chief’ And Tore Down the Democrat Party And The Country

-By Warner Todd Huston

PBS and documentary maker Ken Burns have done it again with a wonderful look at the political lives of Teddy and Franklin Roosevelt. But if the series did anything it revealed to a discerning viewer how Franklin rebuilt the presidency on a pillar of hate and lies and remade the Democrat Party into a party driven by purposeful misdirection and deceit.

Certainly the series approaches these two consequential presidents as good for the country. Neither were as salubrious for the country as popular opinion holds and both did a lot of damage. To Burns’ credit he does allow conservative commentator George Will to slip in a few digs at how both Teddy and Franklin tore down the presidency and turned our country from a constitutional republic built on a pretty straightforward explication of the political raison d’être of any particular party, candidate or era and into a nation run by sneaky politicians who lie straight-faced to the people and don’t care about the Constitution at all.

Teddy Roosevelt did his bit to end our Constitutional republic, granted, and was followed by Woodrow Wilson who pounded a few more nails into that coffin. But it was Franklin Delano Roosevelt who really destroyed the country.

The truth is, Franklin was an utterly failed president in everything but his leadership in WWII. It has to be acknowledged that his stewardship of the war was great and maybe a lesser president would have left the US more vulnerable. But there is no doubt that he materially hurt this country in every other arena.

His domestic policy was a disaster, his economic policies utterly failed, and his disregard of the rule of law and the US Constitution was a disgusting display of arrogance and hubris. By forcing the world into war, Hitler ended the Great depression, not Franklin Roosevelt.

Muslim ‘Cleric’ Jokes About 9/11, Other Terror Attacks on CNN

-By Warner Todd Huston

Supposed Muslim “cleric” Anjam Choudary, a man who is often seen on TV as the leading voice of Muslims in Britain, thought it would be hilarious to make a joke about 9/11 and other famous terror attacks on CNN on Tuesday.

On September 2 Choudary was doing a sound check for the TV engineers before appearing on CNN’s “Reliable Sources” when he stopped counting in the normal, sequential way and began to say the numbers 9/11, 7/7, 3/11—all well known as dates of deadly terror attacks in the west.

When they finally got on the air, host Brian Stelter asked Choudary, “Is this all some sort of joke to you?”

‘Meet The Press’ Update: Top Ten Most Left-Biased American Journalists – #4: Chuck Todd, NBC

‘Meet The Press’ Update: Top Ten Most Left-Biased American Journalists – #4: Chuck Todd, NBC

-By Warner Todd Huston

With NBC’s Chuck Todd on the verge of replacing Dave Gregory as the next host for NBC’s Meet The Press, I am beginning to get hits on my old post on him. This info is all quite true, so read on about just how biased this guy is.

Back in 2010 I created a list of the top ten most left-biased journalists (see the full list at the bottom of this post). Chuck Todd was then the fourth most biased in my list. He is still just as biased and with the rumors that he is about to take over the Sunday show, I thought I’d repost this entry.

Original post…

All week we’ve been exploring America’s ten most left-biased working journalists and now we come to spot number four on the list. And so, for his close attention to pushing the spin and as one of the most active members of the Old Media’s Obama Butt Covering squad, we are pleased to award the number four spot to NBC Political Director Chuck Todd.

Todd is one of those journos that came from Democrat political circles — having worked for Iowa Democrat Senator Tom Harkin’s 1992 presidential run — and then crossed over into the world of “journalism.” With that you just know that he can be as unbiased as the best of them in his reporting. Well, if he can we’ll never know it because so far he has not been. Just the opposite, really.

Todd has done a bang-up job for the left in his journalism career. Likely Todd’s loyalty to the Democrat Party is probably why he felt the need to slam Senator Joe Lieberman last year, for instance. Proving his blindness to real political analysis, Todd claimed that Joe Lieberman was the “polar opposite” of the Senate’s lone socialist Senator Bernie Sanders (officially an “independent”).

Antiques Roadshow’s Bruce Shackelford Gets One Way Wrong

-By Warner Todd Huston

I am sure the PBS antiques appraisal show, Antiques Roadshow, gets slapped around by real experts for being wrong all the time. For instance, I’ve seen prices for Civil War artifacts quoted way off base. But the show’s Bruce Shackelford even got an identification of a piece wrong in one episode.

So, this episode of Antiques Roadshow is an old one. I only just now saw it for the first time this week. But in the show from 1998, Shackelford misidentified the Stetson hat in the image below as a “Boss Of The Plaines” model hat.

He was wrong.

A true Boss Of The Plaines has a flat brim with a short, rounded crown. Just like so…

A Review and Some Predictions of The New Series ‘Extant’ (CBS)

-By Gary Krasner

With great analytical powers, comes great responsibility. Therefore, I’m being responsible by warning you that if you are enjoying “Extant,” the new TV series with Halle Berry, then you should stop reading now. Because I’m going to poop all over it, and make predictions about how it will disappoint you if you stick with it.

Still here? OK, you’ve been warned.

Last Wednesday, after it premiered, my pal Jason wrote me that he liked it. I opined that it was a cross between the movies Solaris (George Clooney) and AI (Spielberg), and that it has signs that it will string audiences along, as Lost (ABC) had done. They both seem to be enticing the same kind of audiences (SciFi conspiracy lovers).

I watched episode 2 tonight. Hearing it mostly, and glancing at the screen occasionally. At the 20 min mark, I pretty much wrote this entire review in my head. Now that I have time, I will lay it all out for you.

MSNBC’s Hard Hitting Reporter, Krystal Ball, a Noted ‘Dumb Ass’

MSNBC’s Hard Hitting Reporter, Krystal Ball, a Noted ‘Dumb Ass’

-By Warner Todd Huston

In its hard hitting, action packed, information filled coverage of the downing of the Malaysian jet over Ukraine today, MSNBC found time to speak to a highly placed military source who noted… live on the air…. that the plane was downed by a blast of wind “from Howard Stern’s ass.”

In response to that, MSNBC’s Krystal Ball, a vision of journalistic integrity and veracity, went on to ask this important military source what sort of missile was used on the jet.

Then she was told, “boy you’re a dumb ass, aren’t cha?”

Now THAT is journalism… well, what passes for it on the left, anyway.

MSNBC’s Schultz Says Gays ‘Really The Ones Persecuted’ in Nazi Holocaust

MSNBC’s Schultz Says Gays ‘Really The Ones Persecuted’ in Nazi Holocaust

-By Warner Todd Huston

Sometimes a celebrity will Tweet something, so blatantly a-historical, something so totally outrageous and insensible, that even they realize how bad it is and will try to delete it right away. But someone will always be there to preserve the evidence.

Well, MSNBC’s Ed Schultz just found out that Twitter is forever when he Tweeted that gays were “really” the ones persecuted during Hitler’s holocaust. Seriously. A guy with a German surname just said that. In public.

The MSNBC host Goodwined himself before anyone else even said a word with a Tweet where he informed the world of who was the “real” target of Hitler’s Final Solution.

“Gay people were really the ones being persecuted in Hitler’s Germany,” Schultz blurted out on his EdShow Twitter feed at ten to 5 PM on May 12.

Schultz accompanied his Tweet with an image of a webpage that reported on the thousands of gays that the Nazis reportedly put to death or otherwise interned in their odious death camps.

Stern Looks From Sean Penn, That Ought to Free 250 Kidnapped Nigerian Girls!

Stern Looks From Sean Penn, That Ought to Free 250 Kidnapped Nigerian Girls!

-By Warner Todd Huston

They’ve ignored the violent region for a decade, they’ve never spoken out about the Islamist radical terrorists who have killed thousands, but now that over 250 girls have been kidnapped by the Islamist terror group Boko Haram, suddenly a handful of Hollywooders have deigned to notice… and weeks late at that.

In April, the terror group Boko Haram went on a mass kidnapping spree imprisoning hundreds of Nigerian girls who were trying to attend school. The Islamists are against girls going to school, naturally. That and they want to money from selling the girls into sexual slavery. Hundreds of grief stricken Nigerian parents have been trying to get the world to notice for weeks.

President Obama has been ignoring the mass kidnapping for almost a month already. But now he is finally starting to pay attention. On May 7 First Lady Michelle Obama Tweeted out a photo of herself holding a piece of paper that sways “#Bring Back Out Girls.”

For his part, the President has begun to offer some help, though no one is quite sure what that amounts to yet.

That is all well and good, but what is galling is the idiots in Hollywood. Suddenly being all worried about the Nigerian girls is all the rage among the hipsters. To express their newfound concern a handful of Hollyidiots Tweeted photos of themselves with stern faces holding signs that say “real men don’t buy girls.”

MSNBC’s Racist Cinco de Mayo: White Guy Pretends to Get Drunk on Tequila While Wearing Sombrero

MSNBC’s Racist Cinco de Mayo: White Guy Pretends to Get Drunk on Tequila While Wearing Sombrero

-By Warner Todd Huston

Now, imagine if Fox News had “celebrated” Cinco de Mayo by having a white guy wearing a dime store, straw sombrero and wandering across the screen pretending he’s drunk on tequila. The media wagging tongues would have made it into the worst example of racism since… well, last week’s Sterling incident.

MSNBC’s Racist Cinco de Mayo Celebration

But that it happened on MSNBC, no one will likely throw the race card at the extremist, left-wing cable network.

Still, that is what happened on MSNBC when network’s morning show, Way too Early, made the switch to its low-rated Morning Joe.

As Way too Early was coming to a close on May 5, a show producer named Louis Burgdorf–obviously a white guy–paraded across the screen in front of the host’s station wearing a cheap Mexican sombrero and pretending to be drinking tequila.

The banner across the bottom of the screen proclaimed “Mexican Heritage Celebration.”

So, a sombrero-wearing white guy pretending at being drunk was the way MSNBC decided to “celebrate” Cinco de Mayo? And no one wants to scream “rraaaaaacism” at that?
