Obama Signals British That They Aren’t So Special

Barack Obama, it was claimed, would “repair” our reputation both with our enemies and our friends. So how has he done? Let’s take Britain for example. Has he “fixed” our special relationship with the British Isles? Well, if by fixed you mean he has fastened that relationship to a negative track, well then “fixed” it is.

Let’s review some of the slights that Barack Obama delivered to our closest allies, the British.

In February, immediately after he entered office, President Obama summarily rejected the most famous bust of Winston Churchill in England loaned to the U.S. for display in the Oval Office by the people of England. The bust was sent to us by the people of the U.K. as a gesture of solidarity and friendship in the aftermath of 9/11. Despite their generosity, Obama returned the generously loaned statuette without alerting the Brits that he intended to do so, blindsiding Prime Minister Gordon Brown’s government.

Photojournalist Mad at RightWeb’s Use of His Photo

A photojournalist from the St. Petersburg Times in Florida is very upset at you people. He wants you all to know that you should be ashamed of yourselves for misusing his photo.

Ed Fountain is the photog that took the famous picture that the right-o-sphere guffawed at a few weeks ago showing President Obama strangely bowing to Tampa Mayor Pam Iorio.

In light of the many times Obama has bowed to the floor in supplication before several of the world’s leaders — making himself look like a weakling to the world — conservatives made light of this photo saying that it shows that this weakling president will bow to anyone. After all, why the heck would anyone supplicate themselves before the Mayor of Tampa, Florida? He’s the president, fer cripes sakes!

Obama The Pro-Gun President?

Is President Obama a surprising gun rights supporter? He might be if the Chicago Tribune’s Steve Chapman is correct. And Chapman isn’t the only one. It seems to be shaping up to be the lefty complaint du jour this week. Reality, however, might say something different.

Chapman makes a classic mistake that many people make when discussing matters political. He mistakes Washington’s inaction on an issue as some sort of statement on the ideology on that issue. While there are times when this is true, inaction is not necessarily a statement of support or opposition to an issue, but often just a matter of merely not having gotten to it yet or even not being able to.

In this case Chapman is talking about guns. Is Obama for them, against them, indifferent to them? Chapman has a sneaking suspicion that President Obama is for our rights and only supports modest gun control measures. This is because the president hasn’t launched into all sorts of left-wing attempts to curtail our Second Amendment rights in his one year in office. But I think Chapman is reading too much into Obama’s inaction.

French to Buy the White Cliffs of Dover from UK Labour Government

Staggering under a national debt of £830billion ($1.245 trillion) for a nation only about the size of California with a population about twice that state’s, the UK’s Labour Prime Minister, Gordon Brown, is selling off its hard asset Dover Port to its historical arch-enemy, France, in a benighted attempt at debt reduction through privatization.

Although the UK already has sold off its other major ports to private hands through the 1991 Ports Act, the sale of Dover Port and the White Cliffs to France has generated anger and outrage among the general British population, a large percentage of whom have living memories of WWII.

Confronted by the historically inverted, proposed sale to the regional council of Nord-pas-de-Calais, Tory candidate for MP, Charles Elphicke had this to say of Calais owning Dover, “In trying to sell off our port and the White Cliffs, it’s clear Gordon Brown has no sense of the history of our nation or the pride of our town.

‘How dare he consider selling it all off to the French? Dover is the English border. We stood proud in defending our nation in times past.

OK Piker, What Foreign Policy Victories Has Your Obammessiah Had?

This is a post directly to my friend, Piker — one of the few liberals that frequent this blog. I need to ask of you this salient question: what foreign policy victory has President Obama had while in office?

We were told by the lefty media that Obama was going to sweep into office and “fix” our relationship with the world. We were told that Bush was a “cowboy” who “ruined” our reputation abroad. The Obammessiah was going to heal the world for us and make us the much beloved country that liberals imagine that we always were — despite the FACT that we’ve never, ever been the much beloved country that American liberals imagine we once were.

During the campaign Obama pledged to talk to everyone “without preconditions.” Once in office he launched a world wide apology tour for America telling every foreign auience he could find that the U.S. was mean and rotten and that he was the bright, shining light of truth that would drive out the darkness and make us the world’s pal once again.

Well, he’s had a year.

Has he brought Abbas and the “palestinians” to the table to negotiate peace with Israel?

Has he stopped North Korea’s saber rattling and stopped them from further developing their nuclear weapons?

Speaking of nukes, has he stopped Iran from its aspirations for the bomb?

Has he brought the world to its senses by winning concessions for that mythical global warming? Or is it “climate change” this year? Globaloney, maybe?

Has the president made Islamofascists every where suddenly realize that they can love us again?

Has he made us safe from terrorists?

Has he…. well, what HAS he done? What concrete foreign policy success has he had? Has there been even a glimmer of success? I’d really love to hear what the left is saying about this.

Where’s the Outrage: 1 Year Later, Gitmo Not Closed

One of the first things that Barack Obama did after being swept into office on the wings of “hopenchange” was to sign an executive order that would close the terrorist detainee facility at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. President Obama gave a one-year deadline after which he triumphantly informed us the facility would be closed. Well, we are at one year plus ten days after the signing of the order and Gitmo is still open. Yet few stories expressing outrage about this lapsed promise have made the rounds in the Old Media.

On January 22, 2009, Obama signed the Executive Order that gravely asserted that Gitmo would be closed “no later than 1 year from the date of this order.” That was January 22, 2009. It is now February 1, 2010. I’d say a year and ten days after the order was signed just might constitute more than “no later than one year,” wouldn’t you?

Naturally, last year when Obama signed this order the Old Media covered it quite heavily. It was big news and was represented as an example of Obama’s fulfilling a campaign promise. All one need do is type “close Guantanamo executive order” into Google and page after page of Old Media coverage of the signing of the EO will be discovered.

It shouldn’t come as any surprise that the Obama Administration is doing everything they can to place the blame for Republican Scott Brown’s victory in the Massachusetts Senatorial Special Election on Martha Coakley. It is their modus operandi. When someone or some organization becomes a political liability, the Obama team throws it under the bus. They did it to Rev. Jeremiah Wright. They did it to Bill Ayers. They did it to ACORN. And now they are doing it to Martha Coakley. No, we shouldn’t be surprised. In Chicago Democrat politics, political liabilities are “dealt with,” and Barack Obama is a Chicago Machine Progressive-Democrat.

Martha Coakley wasn’t always a “liability,” though. In her defense it should be pointed out that as recently as 2006, Coakley won election as the Massachusetts Attorney’s General by a decisive margin, garnering 73% of the vote. By any standard, a statewide election victory tallying 73% of the vote is impressive. Coming off that kind of power victory, we can discern that Coakley knows how to execute a political campaign. Further, with such a lopsided victory achieved, it would have been logical that she would have been a strong candidate, against all comers, to safely retain the late Ted Kennedy’s Senate seat…if left to her own devices.

Left-Wing Prof Uses State Funded University To Launch Attack on U.S.

Every once in a while I like to blow off some steam and deliver a good rant. So get ready for my rant du jour…

It’s like a bad parody of the worst propensity of the American professoriate to be, well, as un-American as one can get. But here we have another prosaic example of yet another half-wit, left-wing professor — this one a prof of “international law” — using his perch in a state sponsored school, with his taxpayer’s supported (and obviously undeserved) salary to help foreigners launch an attack on his own county… if this particular pinko even bothers to claim he IS a U.S. citizen, that is. With these university pinheads it isn’t a safe bet to assume that they even consider themselves Americans.

Anyway, this particular pointy-headed geek is named Francis A. Boyle (no not boil, that is only what he is, not what he’s named) and he is a professor of International Law at the University of Illinois in Champaign. Mr. Boil… uh, I mean Boyle… has filed with the International Criminal Court in The Hague, The Netherlands, a “complaint” against George W. Bush and his whole administration. What is this little complaint whining about? Two guesses and the first one doesn’t count.

Yeah, you guessed correctly. This commie prof is trying to get Bush, et al, brought up on faux war crimes charges. Get a load of this child’s ranting.

What is More Troubling than Pat Robertson’s Remarks?

January 20, 2010 | Filed Under Anti-Americanism, Barack Obama, Christianity, Democrats/Leftists, Foreign Policy, Government, Corruption, Liberals, Race, Religion, Selwyn Duke, Society/Culture | No Comments

Of all the responses to the devastation in Haiti, the most copy-worthy is televangelist Pat Robertson’s claim that the earthquake was divine retribution. In making his case, he told a story about how Haitian leaders long ago made a pact with Satan, promising to serve him if he would help vanquish their French oppressors. The Devil delivered, said Robertson, but the consequence is that the nation has ever since been cursed, with one disaster befalling it after another. It was reminiscent of when the late Jerry Falwell said — and Robertson agreed — that those who have authored America’s descent into sin were partially responsible for 9/11.

Not surprisingly, the response today is much as it was back then. Robertson has been roundly criticized in media, by the left, right and center. Yet there’s something more troubling than his remarks.

Just for the record, I don’t share Robertson’s theology. While I do believe there can be such a thing as the wrath of God, I also know that God has both ordained will and permissive will. The former, of course, is when God intervenes and makes something happen; miracles, in the typical sense, fall into this category. And many have believed in divine intercession. For instance, Ben Franklin once said, “the longer I live, the more convincing proofs I see of this Truth, that God governs in the Affairs of Men.”

Earthquakes and other Human Disasters

January 19, 2010 | Filed Under Foreign Policy, History, John Armor, Security/Safety, Society/Culture | No Comments

-By John Armor

I have been to Haiti, once. It was in 1972. I remember it vividly. The sad thing is that Haiti has not changed materially since then. As a result of that continuing history of human failure, people are dying in the tens of thousands from easily avoidable consequences of the earthquake that centered on Port au Prince last week.

Haiti’s successful revolution to gain its freedom from being a colony of France, was only a few years after our own Revolution against England. But since then, Haiti has had a constant series of governments composed of thieves, torturers, murderers.

When I was in Port au Prince in 1972, I took a taxi to go to the Iron Market in the center of that city. As we drove into the market, I noticed that there was one, new brick building on the outskirts of the Market. In my college French, I asked the driver what that building was. He replied that it was “an agricultural warehouse.” But as we passed the building, the door opened and a man came out. On the wall behind him I saw a long rack filled with dozens of machine guns.

I knew right away that the brick building was the headquarters of the Ton-Ton Macoute. They were the murderous thugs who kept “Papa Doc” Duvalier in power, and later his son, “Baby Doc.” Whether the current thugs are as well organized, or bear the same name, I do not know. I do know that Haiti still does not have a competent government, and thugs are still loose in the streets.

Publius Podcast: Some Cultures Aren’t ‘Just As Good As Ours’

Some cultures are just plain evil and they must be destroyed. Uganda proves this with the rise in child “sacrifice” where kids are being abducted, murdered, and “sacrificed to the spirits” in order to bring good luck on adults.

U.S. Judge Comes to Rescue of Terrorist, Throws Out Confession

Get ready folks because this is the world of terrorist coddling that Barack Obama is setting up for us from now on. A left-wing, multicultural-loving, half-wit federal judge has sided with those who would kill us all by throwing out most of the evidence as well as the confession of a terrorist ensconced in Guantanamo Bay.

U.S. District Judge Thomas Hogan said in a ruling that the government failed to prove that the statements made by Musa’ab Omar Al Madhwani were made free of coercion. I suppose this wonderful judge asked the terrorist if he was coerced and the terrorist unsurprisingly said, “uh, yeah, dat’s what happened. Dey que-orced me!”

Fortunately, this lame, idiot judge decided in his infinite wisdom that we should still hold the terrorist because other things he told authorities at other times was deemed important and accurate. So it could have been worse. At least this time, a hack judge didn’t let a killer free to roam about the United States at will… oh, but it’s coming.

This is what Obama has set up, America. He has set up a situation where terrorists will be loosed on an unsuspecting American public because some soft-in-the-head judge feels sorry for them.

Multiculturalism is the dream state of the extreme left, not just in the U.S.A. but worldwide. From the pointy-heads at university, to the self-congratulatory oafs in Brussels and Washington D.C., these leftists sternly warn us all that any assumption that one culture is somehow better than another is “racist,” or at the least gauche. Everyone is the same, they say and you are a creep to think otherwise.

And they are simply wrong. Some cultures are better than others. A recent BBC report proves my nay saying of multiculturalism is right, too.

On Jan 7 the BBC posted a report on the increase in child sacrifice in Uganda where so-called witch-doctors are increasingly killing children in faux religious practices in order to bestow good luck on adults.

Illinois Panel Votes to ‘Close’ Thomson Readying it for Guantanamo Terrorists

This afternoon the Illinois Commission on Government Forecasting and Accountability voted 7-4 to formally close the Thomson Correctional Center. The next step could be to sell the facility to the federal government in order for Obama to deposit in the midst of Illinois citizens the dangerous terrorists from the Guantanamo Bay, Cuba detainee facility.

This decision is but a stepping stone toward the eventual sale of the prison to the federal government. The panel only serves in an advisory capacity so this decision does not finalize any deals.

Obama Wants Guantanamo Detainees To Suffer

It is now nearing the one-year anniversary of the day Obama claimed that Guantanamo would be shut down. With all his rhetoric on the facility, I thought that Obama was all about the “humane” treatment of the terrorists being held at the Guantanamo Bay detention facility? Right? I mean, wasn’t Obama all we-weed up that the treatment that prisoners get in the Guantanamo facility is equal to “torture”?

Of course, Obama signed an executive order that is supposed to close Guantanamo by January 22, 2010 — not that this will happen on time as promised, it being just another in a long line of lies and broken promises issued by candidate Obama. But one of the chief reasons that everyone on the extreme left wants Guantanamo to be closed is because these bleeding heart, self-hating nuts are so sure that the facility constitutes some sort of living hell on earth for those detained there.

This being the case, one has to wonder why it is that Obama wants to take these prisoners from the “hell” of Guantanamo and put them in a facility in Illinois that will be far, far worse? That’s right, the living condition in Guantanamo is like paradise compared to what they will be forced to endure in Illinois.

Just a reminder: Dick “Turbin” Durbin is one of the worst, most elitist, least American Senators in the all of the Senate. In this video he was reacting to a question about the people of Illinois having a referendum on whether or not they wanted killers and terrorists deposited amongst them in the Thomson prison facility and good ol’ “Turbin” Durbin said that he didn’t see a reason why the voters should get, well, a vote on the matter.

You see folks, “Turbin” Durbin knows better than you do. He just knows that you just need terrorists to be living amongst you, ya just gotta have ‘em. This is the sort of creep Illinois has repeatedly elected to office.

Good job Illinois!

Lefty Narrative: Rapes, Torture at ‘Iran’s Guantanamo’

A left wing narrative has for some time been developing centered on abuse of Iran’s democratic demonstrators at the hands of Iranian officials. You may have seen the shocking news about forced rapes and torture of Iranians imprisoned by the Mullahs in Iran but it is how the story is being sold to the west that is of note here. The prison story is being called “Iran’s Guantanamo” and it is being sold as if it is explicitly true that Iran has acted in the same way as U.S. officials have acted at the Guantanamo Bay, Cuba detainee facility.

Conflating Guantanamo with the sort of criminal actions perpetrated by the Iranian government is simply the wrong message to send, but it is one that the media loves to see pushed just the same. This way of selling the story is just another example of the anti-American narrative that the left loves to slyly push under everyone’s nose.

As the story goes, the totalitarian government in Iran has been grabbing up off the streets people that merely want to see democracy come to their beleaguered nation. Afterward, in Iran’s Evin prison, the Mullah oppressors have imprisoned these innocents, tortured them, raped them, and beat them, with many dying as a result of the abuse. And how has the news been selling the story? By equating these illicit, monstrous actions of the Iranian government to America as if the two are morally indistinguishable.
