Bait and Switch: Law Goes From Protecting Your Email to Allowing Gov’t Into Your Email

A new law that was originally meant to strengthen the privacy of your email was recently re-written to allow government more access to your private emails and other digital files.
When H.R. 2471 went to the Senate, Democrat Senator Pat Leahy quickly rewrote the whole thing to allow federal policing agencies to have the power to search your digital files without a warrant.
As CNET reports it,
Leahy’s rewritten bill would allow more than 22 agencies — including the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Federal Communications Commission — to access Americans’ e-mail, Google Docs files, Facebook wall posts, and Twitter direct messages without a search warrant. It also would give the FBI and Homeland Security more authority, in some circumstances, to gain full access to Internet accounts without notifying either the owner or a judge.
This is, of course, an example of the government going too far for security. And you know the old saying so often attributed to Ben Franklin, “Those who would trade in their freedom for their protection deserve neither.”
Also, I can’t stress more, here, that is the Democrats doing this. This is not a GOP effort.

Obama’s DOJ Refuses to Affirm America’s Religious Freedoms

This video is a perfect example of the essential lawlessness of the Obama administration.
There are some things that are essentially a basic truth. Murder is always wrong. Rights must be safeguarded. And violations of rights must be prosecuted. Also, the U.S. Department of Justice should always, always be zealous in the scheme of protecting those rights.
But not to Obama. No, to Obama the DOJ is only a political office, one that operates on no essential truths.
In this case, Congressman Trent Franks (R, Ariz.) asked an official of Obama’s DOJ if his office would vow to protect our Constitutionally guaranteed religious freedom.
This DOJ stooge refused to do so.

My friend SooperMexican sends along the result of his call to Eric Holder’s DOJ Arizona racism hotline.
Says Soops:
When the news broke that the Department of Justice had set up a “hotline” to call in abuses of civil liberties in Arizona after the Supreme Court ruled on SB1070, I didn’t think much of it.
Now, I know that as a Republican white guy I am not allowed to have a friend who is Mexican. But I do. I also have a daughter-in-law who is Mexican. One to be that is from Puerto Rico. And I married a Korean. So, I guess I should turn in my white guy card.

Promises, Promises: The Reality of Campaign Speak

As the campaign cycle progresses we are going to hear a lot about what one candidate or another is going to do about this or that. We will, to the point of weariness, be inundated with campaign promise after campaign promise, albeit, between gratuitous attacks, both political and personal. This is politicking and the American electorate – for better or for worse – has come to accept a certain amount of it from the people in the political class. But expecting grandiose pledges and believing in the unattainable, well, those are two different things. It is the truly foolish who believe half of what a political candidate says he can deliver, and the blame for that foolishness must fall on the shoulders of the individual voter.
While Presidents sign legislation into law, it is Congress – the House and the Senate; the Legislative Branch – that actually crafts and passes legislation. Therefore, any promise made on the campaign trail by a presidential candidate, be it by the incumbent or the challenger (or the field of candidates vying to be the challenger), is subject to the debate and acquiescence of those in the Legislative Branch; in Congress. It is because of this that any promise made by a presidential candidate must be received by the voting public as more of an intention, rather than a promise. To accept a campaign promise as an impending reality is to set oneself up for almost certain disappointment. And to blame a successful candidate for not living up to those campaign promises requires a level of certainty that the promise was actually ignored, not thwarted.
A good example of campaign promises thwarted comes in the form of the Republican TEA Party supported congressional freshman class who, during the 2010 Mid-Term Elections, promised to “repeal or defund Obamacare” and to “bring fiscal responsibility to Washington.” Each of those elected sincerely believed that they would be able to succeed in doing what they promised. In fact, HR2 of the 112th Congress did, in fact, attempt to repeal Obamacare and many of the TEA Party supported members of the House took it straight on the chin during the debt, deficit and budget debates. But for all of their good intentions and actions, the freshmen Republicans of the 112th Congress learned that unless you have a veto-proof majority in the House, a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate and a friendly inhabitant in the White House, absolutes in campaign promises do not exist.
The same must be said about the Executive Branch and the President of the United States, although he has some additional quivers in his pouch where getting his way is concerned: the bully pulpit (self-explanatory) and the Executive Order.
O’s Gun Show: Fast & Furious = Bowling for Columbine

At their 2004 national convention, the Democrats honored Michael Moore by seating him right next to former president Jimmy Carter. If that was outrageous, it was nothing compared to the fact that the next Democrat administration would conduct itself as if it were producing one of Moore’s phony documentaries.
A scene in Moore’s anti-gun film Bowling for Columbine depicts him opening an account at a Traverse City, Michigan bank that offers a free rifle to each new customer. After filling out some paperwork, he exits the building, victoriously hoisting his easily obtained firearm overhead. Like everything else in Moore’s movies, that’s not exactly how it happened.
The bank, which was also licensed as a gun dealership, administered background checks, after which it would issue vouchers redeemable for rifles kept in a vault at a remote location, about 300 miles away. Moore had already opened his account and passed his background check long beforehand, and arranged to have his gun delivered to the bank for the purpose of shooting the scene.
Moore was allowed this departure from the usual procedure because the gullible manager was eager to cooperate with what the congenitally dishonest filmmaker had told him was a story about innovative business practices. In exchange for having done him this favor, the bank and its employees were lied about, and turned into objects of derision.

AG Eric Holder: Death of a US Border Agent? Pffft, Just Racist My Opponents Playing ‘Gotcha Games’

Obama’s policy of forcing US gun shops in the southwest to sell American guns to Mexican narco-terrorists has already killed one for sure and maybe two U.S. law enforcement agents. Obama’s Operation Fast And Furious is also responsible for selling the guns that were used to kill well over 200 Mexican citizens. And as far as U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder is concerned, even talking about the disastrous policy is merely engaging in “gotcha” politics and — naturally — raaaaaacim. I guess the murder of US law enforcement agents don’t mean much to Eric Holder, our nation’s chief law enforcement officer?
In his appearance in Austin, Texas early last week, Holder whined that attacks on his incompetence is just politics meant to get at himself and Obama because they are black, an idiotic claim on its face. No one has argued that “the black Holder” should resign but all who’ve called for his resignation have substantive reasons. From his refusal to prosecute vote fraud, to his attempts to eliminate vote reform, and including his complicity in Fast and Furious, Holder’s critics have complained about his far left, progressive, race-driven policies not his being black.

Austin: Successful Rally to Oppose AG Holder’s Attack on Election Reforms

On Tuesday, December 13 a rally was held near the LBJ Library at the University of Texas, Austin to highlight the attack on election reforms launched inside by U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder. Holder went to Texas to denounce the Lone Star State’s voter ID laws and claimed that simple voter ID laws were somehow discriminatory. Holder ominously claimed that he would use the power of his office to “enforce civil rights protections” during the upcoming 2012 elections.
Outside the LBJ Library nearly 200 citizens gathered to hear a multi-racial panel of six speakers denounce Holder’s partisan attempts to push the administration’s agenda to turn a blind eye to continuing voter fraud that consistently favors candidates from the Democrat Party.
The rally was sponsored by the Houston-based True The Vote, a grass roots voter integrity project staffed by volunteers. True The Vote is a nation-wide organization that has affiliates across the country, every day citizens interested in the integrity of the elections in their home district.

As bad as Fast And Furious seems to be, and it is bad, there is worse news on the American-guns-to-Mexican-drug-dealers front. CBS News is reporting that thousands more guns than the nearly 2,000 “lost” by the BATF with Operation Fast and Furious has been lost through legal gun sales to the Mexican government.
Sheryl Attkisson recently discovered that guns sold by American manufacturers that have been selling guns legally to the Mexican government through official State Department channels are ending up in the hands of the drug cartels at an unfortunately large rate….

Recently we’ve been introduced to what appears to be the Obama administration’s sacrificial lamb for Operation Fast and Furious; Assistant Attorney General Lanny Breuer.
One of the interesting questions that arises over how high into the Dept. of Justice knowledge of F&F went concerns the approval of the wiretaps used during some of the F&F operations. For his part, Breuer says that anyone higher than he that had to approve these wiretaps could not have known exactly what F&F was all about because they had no knowledge of the total operation and so could not have put two and two together…

According to Department of Justice whistleblower J. Christian Adams, AG Eric Holder has a certain something in his wallet. It is a quotation – and he has carried it for decades. It essentially says, to quote Adams, “Blackness is more important than anything, and the black US attorney has common cause with the black criminal.” It’s not surprising that Holder would feel this way about black lawyers and criminals.
Because in his case they’re one and the same.
Holder, the man whose misfeasance led him to drop the infamous Black Panther voter-intimidation case, now may have done what all corrupt men, sooner or later, eventually do. He has tripped up in his efforts to hide his misdeeds.

Texas Redistricting: Forget About ‘Justice,’ Obama’s DOJ is ALL About Politics

Obama’s Department Of Justice claims that Texas redistricting is somehow “unfair” because Democrats have lost power. Therefore the DOJ is going to take the state to court over its new map. Yet, in Illinois, the Democrats have decimated Republican districts and slighted several Hispanic districts, yet the DOJ has turned a blind eye to pleas for redress there. This all tends to prove that Obama’s DOJ is less about “fairness” and more about politics. Sadly, Obama is playing politics with justice.
Only days after his inauguration in 2009 President Barack Obama warned Republicans that he wasn’t much interested in what they had to say on policy. In a meeting with congressional leaders he told Republicans “elections have consequences” and “I won.” Obama apparently wanted to stress that those that win elections should set the agenda and run the table. To echo Rep. Joe Wilson, Obama lied.
Take Texas, for instance. Thanks to two years of one failed Democrat policy after another and after two years of a sustained assault on American values, an attack on our business community, capitalism, and an avalanche of regulations quashing any chance of an economic recovery, the political landscape of Teas turned a deep, deep red in the 2010 midterm elections.

The details of Obama’s illicit gun running program to arm Mexican narco-terrorists get worse by the day, it seems. Not only have we now discovered that at least three White House national security officials were briefed about Operation Fast and Furious, but it also looks like BATF officials tried to cover up the fact that their illicitly sold guns were being found at U.S. crime scenes after the death of border agent Brian Terry.
The L.A.Times reports that three White House national security officials had received emails about the progress of Operation Fast and Furious. This seems to contradict past claims by the White House that no one in Obama’s administration was aware of the program…

Did you know that a suspected Somali terrorist was sneaked into a U.S. criminal court in New York City over the July 4th holiday? Most people don’t. While we were all distracted by celebrating our Independence Day President Obama was sneaking foreign terrorists into our civil court system instead of taking him to Guantanamo.
A few weeks ago, Reuters reported that Somali terrorist Ahmed Abdulkadir Warsame was brought to New York City to face criminal charges in our home-based court system on July 4th, yet.
Warsame was captured in April in the Gulf region and was held aboard a U.S. Naval ship until July being questioned by the military and the FBI.

This past weekend there was a very quiet — in fact a secret — meeting between the chief of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATF), Kenneth Melson, and Congressional investigators looking into the gun walker case (also called Operation Fast and Furious) and the results seem to show that the culpability for arming Mexican narco terrorists by Obama’s administration is more widespread than just by the BATF.
BATF head Melson appeared in secret testimony that made matters worse for the Obama administration, showing that the gun smuggling scandal was a shared program among several federal agencies and not just one from the BATF…

Age-Old Tradition Thrown into Trash Can

-By Kevin Roeten
In Asheville (NC) the tradition of Marriage may have just been altered beyond comprehension. Some people are screaming that they just want equal treatment. But with marriage, people are given a privilege, not a right. But many consider Asheville a bump in the road and an exception to the rule. It’s been said that up to 12% of Asheville’s population is gay, lesbian, transgender, or bisexual. Many of those cohabitate. Does that mean if they were granted the privilege to “marry” as so many other couples do (one woman and one man), all problems would disappear because they were treated equally?
On 2/22/11, the City of Asheville approved a resolution that would “allow same-sex couples to share fully and equally in the familial rights and responsibilities of civil marriage”. But what does that really mean?
An easy interpretation of the resolution is it’s legal to “marry”, or to form a recognized union, with someone of the same sex. The resolution also included a city preference list for homosexuals. Interpretation: “The City of Asheville would be openly discriminating in favor of homosexuals in employment.” That would be making homosexuality a “civil right”. The Constitution, Declaration, or even a dictionary writer ever called homosexuality a civil right.

Kinzinger to Offer Amendment to Block Taxpayer Funding for DOJ Lawsuit against Arizona Immigration Law

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Adam Kinzinger (IL-11) will offer an amendment on the House floor that would eliminate taxpayer funding for the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) lawsuit filed against Arizona last July over its immigration enforcement law (SB 1070).
Washington’s failure to secure borders, has led states like Arizona to take matters up themselves. Kinzinger says it is unfair to ask hardworking citizens to fund the DOJ’s agenda.
“Rather than wasting time and taxpayer dollars suing states, the DOJ must turn its focus toward enforcing current immigration laws,” said Kinzinger. “The federal government should be working to make Arizonians feel secure rather than using money from their own paychecks to fund an attack against them in federal court.”

**NOTE** The video below is of eyewitness accounts. There is no video of the incidents inside the polling places because it is illegal to record either sound or video inside a voting place in Texas. If the poll watchers had video tapped these incidents they would have been arrested. In fact, the Texas Sec. of State and Harris County Attorney specifically instructed poll watchers to leave cell phones turned off in the polling place.
Here in Houston, Texas, the Democrats and the extremists that support them were desperate to make the King Street Patriots their boogieman. They desperately wanted these fine patriotic, all-volunteer, grassrooters to be seen as wild-eyed racists that had as their sole purpose the disenfranchisement of the entirety of Houston’s minority community. For the most part the left’s goal evaded them, however.
For the whole of the two weeks of early voting, the Old Media and the Democrats attempted to stir hatred for the King Streeters, but ultimately all the left’s sound and fury amounted to no benefit for their illicit cause.
The KSP reported over a hundred incidents of elections laws being ignored, bent, and broken during the early voting phase of the election. For two solid weeks the Old Media in and around Houston were abuzz with the Streeter’s efforts.
In the early hours of voting on election day, things went smoothly and generally without incident. But all was not entirely quiet for the whole day. The most egregious incidents were perpetrated by Quanell X (formerly Ralph Evans) local leader of the race-based, militant New Black Panther Party.

They are poised to do the same for November 2, the final day of voting.
It has been enlightening, not to mention educational, to sit here at the King Streeter’s HQ observing the poll watcher training sessions. Harris County Democrats have charged that the Streeters are “overzealous and undertrained,” but as I watched the extensive training sessions (some of them observed by Civil Court Judge R. The head of the Obama Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division, Tom Perez, admitted this week that he has no real intention of trying to assure that members of our military are afforded their right to vote, and will not attempt in a timely fashion to enforce the MOVE Act (Military and Overseas Voter Empower Act) intended to make sure that our soldiers get their ballots with time enough to return them so that they can be counted on election day.
Perez made a very weak pledge that the Dept. of Justice would, “continue to vigilantly enforce [the] law” to make sure the military votes are counted, but he made it clear that all he is prepared to do is sue states long after the November 2 elections are over. In other words, Perez is saying that the DOJ will sue states after the election, long after the votes go uncounted and our soldier’s votes are essentially taken away from them.

What happens when citizens decide to stand up and ensure the integrity of elections? In the age of Obama, they are investigated by the Department of Justice.
From the Washington Examiner Washington Examiner:
“Obama’s Department of Justice has suddenly turned on a dime, becoming the great pro-active protector of voters’ rights:
‘Poll watchers in Harris County, Texas — where a Tea Party group launched an aggressive anti-voter fraud effort — were accused of “hovering over” voters, ‘getting into election workers’ faces’ and blocking or disrupting lines of voters who were waiting to cast their ballots as early voting got underway yesterday.
Now, TPMMuckraker has learned, the Justice Department has interviewed witnesses about the alleged intimidation and is gathering information about the so-called anti-voter fraud effort….
Terry O’Rourke, the first assistant in the Harris County Attorney’s office, told TPMMuckraker that there have been allegations of poll watchers talking to voters, which they are not allowed to do, as well as hovering over voters as they are waiting to vote. He said the complaints came from Kashmere Gardens, Moody Park, Sunnyside and other predominantly minority neighborhoods of the county.’
…Obama’s politicized Justice Department has already lost all credibility when it comes to even-handed administration of justice on this matter. They let the Black Panthers off with one wrist-slap and two complete dismissals after their flagrant voter intimidation was caught on tape. Now they’re worried about poll watchers “talking to voters,” at a time when local Texas officials are preventing people from voting if they are wearing Gadsden Flag pins?”
An interesting fact about this so-called investigation is that the group, True to Vote, had already contacted the DOJ regarding the extreme irregularities related to the voter registration drives in the state. (Click image to enlarge)

Cross-Posted from my new site Emerging Corruption.
What really happened during the 2008 elections? Recent information regarding the primary caucuses paints the picture of a campaign that would stop at nothing to win. A campaign that was willing to strong arm candidates and volunteers in order to meet its goal. The documentary We Will Not Be Silenced delves into the Obama 2008 Campaign.
“We believe The Democratic National Committee (DNC) made a grave error by depriving American voters of their choice of Hillary Clinton as Democratic nominee. Senator Clinton, by all accounts, except caucuses, won the Primary Election and, therefore, should be the 2008 Democratic Nominee. That didn’t happen, due largely to illegitimate and illegal acts. We have interviews of many accounts from caucus states recounting threats, intimidation, lies, stolen documents, falsified documents, busing in voters in exchange for paying for “dinners,” etc. There are at least 2000 complaints, in Texas alone, of irregularities directed towards the Obama Campaign, that have lead to a very fractured and broken Democratic Party.”
In July, the 2007 2nd Quarter Obama Donor List was revealed and tied back to Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) and its sister organization Project Vote. On Friday, August 13th a three-judge panel of the United States Court of appeals for the Second Circuit upheld a funding ban on ACORN stemming from Congressional action:

After the heming and hawing by the Obama administration over whether we should bring terror suspects to trial before military commissions, Obama’s DOJ and DOD finally decided that they could. But once again we see the half-way actions of the Obama administration shining through by the fact that, even as Obama seems to agree with the Bush administration policy of military tribunals for terrorists, the president hasn’t made a single plan on what to do with any of those terrorists after they are convicted.
As the Washington Post euphemistically puts it, “the Defense Department has no written policy on how detainees convicted in military commissions should be housed.” I like that. “Housed.” What the Washington Post was too delicate to say was Obama has made no plans on where to imprison these convicted terrorists of the future.
Obviously the Washington Post decided to use spin rhetoric to soften the ultimate fate of convicted terrorists. A convicted terrorist isn’t “housed,” he’s imprisoned. But the Post didn’t want to link the words “imprisoned” and “terrorists” to Barack Obama, hence the softer, less accurate word “housed.”

Feds Move to Prevent Kindle Readers for Use With College Textbooks

It’s the age of the computer, right? The day has arrived when our lives are increasingly conducted in cyberspace, online, over cell phones and web enabled devices. So, shouldn’t it be a natural thing that college textbooks begin to migrate to an electronic variety instead of dithering in the old fashioned world of printed paper? You might have an enthusiastic “yes, yes, yes” in mind, but then again you wouldn’t be Obama’s Department of Justice because they say “no, no, no.”
Byron York recently wrote a piece for the Washington Examiner that explained why the DOJ was attacking the idea of Kindle readers and e-books for college textbooks and preventing colleges and universities from offering them to students.
York reports that the DOJ ridiculously made the claim that electronic book readers like Amazon’s Kindle violated the “civil rights” of the blind and so, e-books violate the Americans with Disabilities Act. Because of this the DOJ insisted that several pilot programs in colleges and universities across the country be discontinued until e-books can be “accessible” to blind people.

In the 2006 movie, Superman Returns, viewers were jarred out of their childhood memories when actor Frank Langella, as Daily Planet editor, Perry White, mangled Superman’s comfortingly familiar patriotism of “Truth, justice and the America Way” to “Truth, justice…and all that other stuff.” When confronted about this near-sacrilegious change in dialogue, screen writers Mike Doughtery and Dan Harris and Director Bryan Singer smugly blew off the outrage using the justification that Superman was an alien without papers, here to save the world, not just America and that the 1945 version of the “American Way” was irrelevant in a new century.

It isn’t about immigration, illegals, the law, or any legitimate thing other than pure partisan politics. Obama thinks he has a great angle with which to pander to the Hispanic vote. That is all he cares about.
As the Chicago Tribune’s David Byrne notes, Obama is being wholly inconsistent with his attack on Arizona.
