On Friday morning, April 12, a package suspected of containing an explosive device was addressed to the offices of the Maricopa County, Arizona, Sheriffs offices of Joe Arpaio, known as “America’s toughest sheriff.”
The package was intercepted by postal authorities in Flagstaff and was submitted to an X-ray scan that showed what looked like an explosive device hidden inside.
Postal authorities said that the package was flagged by a “very astute” carrier who thought the thing was suspicious.
The bomb squad was quickly called and the suspicious package was destroyed.

America’s Sheriff, Joe Arpaio, Stands Alone Against Unions And Outsiders in Recall Effort

Only three weeks after re-election in 2012, Sheriff Joe Arpaio was hit with a recall effort. Now, with anti-Arpaio petitions in circulation in Maricopa County, Arizona, “America’s Sheriff” is organizing his forces to oppose a recall backed by the deep pockets of the unions, millions in outside money, and a flood of non-Arizonans arriving to act as the left-winger’s ground troops. (See www.savesheriffjoe.org)
Arpaio’s team is being ramrodded by the Conservative Business League and unlike the opposition’s recall efforts, the CBL is an Arizona-based organization. The duo taking the helm of the save Joe campaign is the CBL’s Ron Ludders and Bob Thomas.
Ludders and Thomas say that the left’s effort to destroy Sheriff Joe Arpaio is no less than an effort to use the Colorado model (the campaign that turned Colorado from red to blue) to give Arizona to the Democrats. It is also a mirror of what the left tried to do to Republican Governor Scott Walker in Wisconsin and, if successful, would be a model for Democrats to regain power in Texas.
Strangely, Arizona’s recall law is incredibly loose. An elected official in The Grand Canyon State can be recalled for any reason at all and, with one exception, at any time. Unlike such laws in most states, the Arizona law does not require a recall for cause such as criminal activity, fraud, or other real reasons. The only rule seems to be that the elected official has to be in office for six months into his first term before a recall can be mounted. This rule did not apply to the six-term Sheriff. To start a recall, petitioners must gather the signatures of 25 percent of the number of votes cast in the last election.

Arizona Utility Company Owner Getting Rate Payers to Pay HIS Income Taxes?

Now this seems like a case of blatant influence peddling to me, but the owner of a water utility company in Arizona is seeking the assistance of a friendly state regulatory agency to allow him to charge his customers a higher rate so that he can use their money to pay his income taxes.
The Arizona Republic recently posted a story by Ryan Randazzo that breaks down all the players nicely, but it is a somewhat confusing story nonetheless.
It appears that a real estate developer named Ed Robson started the community of water customers in question, a community of some 10,000 homes in the southwest valley called Sun Lakes. Not surprisingly, Robson also owns Pima Utilities, the water company that serves that community and the one seeking the rate hike.

Why Obama’s Birth Certificate Matters, Especially Now

There was a time when someone could perhaps justify sitting on the fence on the matter of Barack Obama’s birth certificate. There were those on the left who could chalk doubts about its authenticity up to conspiratorial Internet paranoia. As for the right, there was every reason to worry about being the victims of an Alinsky-style set-up designed to marginalize opponents. In other words, let the other side double-down on an incredible claim, and then, at the most opportune time (October surprise?), provide irrefutable evidence to the contrary and make them look like deluded wackos. So, for a long time, one might have had cause to watch, wait, and let the wheels of investigation render their judgment.
That judgment is in, and the time for waiting is over.
With the results of Maricopa County, AZ, sheriff Joe Arpaio’s “Cold Case Posse,” an incredible claim has become an incredible situation: a team of professional investigators, commissioned by a major law-enforcement agency, has determined that the alleged birth certificate produced by the president of the United States is a probable forgery.
Process that for a moment. The regime of the world’s most powerful nation – a republic that prides itself on adherence to the rule of law – is likely peddling a forged document. What say you, citizen?

NPR: Again Falsely Blaming Giffords’ Shooting on Uncivil Political Rhetoric

I suppose we couldn’t get past the one-year anniversary of the crime against Democrat Representative Gabrielle Giffords without some Old Media outlet blaming the supposed “heated” political rhetoric of the day for her shooting. On Sunday we saw NPR doing just that. The fact is, no matter how many times they say it, politics and the “heated rhetoric” thereof had absolutely nothing at all to do with Giffords’ shooting. The linking of the crime to politics is just not legitimate.
On this one-year anniversary, NPR’s Linton Weeks was all about the improvement of our “civil discourse,” and full of lament that it just isn’t happening. Perhaps it is a noble sentiment, but he marred that nobility by beginning his piece with a false allusion once again tying the Giffords shooting to the “political atmosphere” of the day.
“When a gunman opened fire on Rep. Gabrielle Giffords,” Linton wrote, “some people were quick to blame the episode on the overheated political climate.”
With that false allusion we also know what NPR meant to do. It meant to blame conservatives for Giffords’ shooting.
He went on to say:

Political Persecution in Maricopa County

When we think of political persecution, places such as Tiananmen Square may come to mind. Increasingly, however, this tool of tyranny is coming to our shores – and it is not made in China. It is, in the case I’ll discuss today, made in Maricopa County.
Every avid news reader knows about the battles between Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio and the federal government; Leviathan has targeted him because of his principled stand against illegal immigration. What is not quite as well known, however, is that the sheriff and his supporters – most notably, former Maricopa County Attorney Andrew Thomas – have long been battling a corrupt local political machine bent on thwarting the rule of law and benefitting itself. Not surprisingly, as in the film Walking Tall, Arpaio’s and Thomas’ attempt to end local corruption has come at a price: the State Bar of Arizona (SBA) has begun prosecuting Thomas and two of his deputies in a move that reeks of political retaliation.
One of these underlings is ex-deputy county attorney Lisa Aubuchon. The other is ex-deputy county attorney Rachel Alexander, whom some readers may recognize as the proprietor of the website Intellectual Conservative. Alexander, despite having played only the smallest of roles in a racketeering case against the Maricopa County Supervisors, now faces suspension of her law license and significant career damage. And outrageously, Alexander’s supervisor, Pete Spaw, has not been charged despite having played a far larger role in the RICO case. This has led many to conclude that Alexander is the victim of selective prosecution.

Alabama Shows the Best Way to Limit Illegal Immigration

Tougher than Arizona’s, Alabama’s new immigration law is a perfect example of the best way to put limits on illegal immigration. Sadly these are laws being forced upon the states to implement instead of coming from the federal government, but regardless they are effective in limiting illegals.
The Mobile Press-Register has a story sort of crying that Mexican oriented businesses in Alabama are suffering under the state’s new laws. These businesses have lost half — or perhaps as much as 75% in some estimations — of their customer base. Where have they gone? These customers are either moving back to Mexico or to other states and are doing so to avoid the tougher laws holding them to account in Alabama for their criminal trespass upon this country.
The Press-Register provides the stories of several business started in Alabama by Mexicans catering to Mexican immigrants. The businesses are on the verge of collapse because their illegal immigrant clientele have left the area.

Truth in Accounting Issues: Arizona’s ‘Financial State of the State’ – True Tax Burden $10.1 Billion

From the Institute for Truth in Accounting…
Chicago (November 29, 2010) Today, the Institute for Truth in Accounting released Arizona’s “Financial State of the State.” After an intensive review of the State’s 2009 audited financial report the Institute determined the State is in a precarious financial position because it does not have the funds available to pay $10.1 billion of the State’s commitments as they come due. Each taxpayer’s share of this financial burden equals $5,700.
Arizona state law requires a balanced budget. “If governors and legislatures had truly balanced the state’s budget, no taxpayer’s financial burden would exist,” said Sheila Weinberg, founder and CEO of the Institute for Truth in Accounting (IFTA). She continued, “A state budget is not balanced if past costs, including those for employees’ retirement benefits, are pushed into the future.”

Judge Gabrielle Giffords (D-Arizona). As a result of this, Judge Roll was murdered when a lone gunman opened fire. In total, six people were murdered and 15 others, including Congresswoman Giffords, were hit and injured by gunfire as well. I am against this kind of violence and would seek to avoid it at all costs. I also extend condolences to Judge Roll’s family as well as to the other families of the dead, and I wish a rapid and full recovery to the wounded in this attack.
There has been a constant news vigil on this matter, with the dominant theme being the recovery of Congresswoman Giffords, along with placing the blame for the shooting on Sarah Palin, Rush Limbaugh, the TEA Party, and conservatives in general, none of whom were present or involved in the shooting. As I have posted previously, there has also been a concurrent attack on both the 1st and 2nd Amendments to the US Constitution as a result of this shooting as well.

When Barack H. Obama was a candidate for President I researched his background and saw that he was a committed Marxist. At the time I wrote that if he became President that we would see unprecedented removal of personal liberty and freedom and growth of the central government along with increased control by that central government over our lives. I received a lot of scorn from people on The Right. I got email along the lines of “you make me ashamed to be a conservative”.
Now, barely two years after the election of Barack H. Obama to the Presidency of the United States, we see that both the 1st and 2nd Amendment to the US Constitution are under all-out attack from forces on The Left who are no doubt emboldened by the election of this Marxist-at-heart President and the success that he has had in imposing his will on the US. The “Stimulus”, OBamaCare, and “Quantitative Easing” are but three examples of the fundamental change that Barack H. Obama promised to deliver. While the full cost of this fundamental change is yet to be paid, rest assured that the United States is on a collision course with the yet unrealized consequences of blindly accepting the imposition of Marxist ideology from within our own government.

Dipstick… er, I mean Dupnik, is now infamous for instantly blaming Fox News, Sarah Palin, the Tea Party and all conservatives for the actions of deranged killer Jared Loughner in Tucson. Even before the first facts were known, Dipstick was speculating along his hateful, partisan line that it was the right that was responsible for the crime.
Now his big fat mouth has finally gotten him in trouble. The Pima County Tea Party is planning a Dump Dupnik rally for Jan. 28th.

The recent shooting in Tucson, Arizona, that critically injured Democratic Representative Gabrielle Giffords as well as killing six other innocent citizens brings the nation again to attempting to find reasons where they are least likely to be found. At this time authorities are still discovering many of the details; however, it has been reported that the shooter in the incident, Jared Lee Loughner, was a mentally unstable individual.
In almost all cases that involve the taking of an innocent life, the quest to find the answers as to why such atrocities take place is never adequately found. This comes in part because there is no answer for loved ones being prematurely taken from this earth that can ease the pain for those that remain. We all know and have grudgingly come to accept the nature cycle of life and the shooting in Arizona violates all that we hold acceptable when it comes to death. Unfortunately, the case of the Arizona shootings is at risk of being misdirected from honoring the dead and helping to heal the injured to promoting political agendas based on a false premise.

Obama to Sue States to End Worker’s Right to Secret Ballot

Barack Obama has given more payoffs, sweetheart deals, and new favorable regulations to Big Labor than any president in history. They should love him for his incredible largess. Next, in his never ending quest to harm the business community, defy the will of the voters, and give his pals in Big Labor paybacks, Obama’s National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) — a federal labor regulatory agency — is about to sue any state that dares attempt to protect the right of workers to have secret ballots in their workplace elections. The states have made the mistake of sponsoring worker’s ballot protection laws.
Recently the NLRB announced its intentions to sue Arizona, South Carolina, South Dakota and Utah because those states had the gal to implement constitutional amendments to their state constitutions guaranteeing that workers have a right to a secret ballot in union elections.
With this the Obama administration is moving to deny workers their right to a secret ballot, a right that has been sacrosanct in democracies for hundreds if not thousands of years. Why does Barack Obama want to take away the right to a secret ballot? Because his union pals don’t want workers to feel safe voting against a union.

If Loughner’s Favorite Movie was Anti-Fox News, How Could he be ‘Influenced’ by the Right’s Rhetoric?

Over at The Other McCain a salient question has been asked. There you’ll see a story about a segment of the film that we’ve come to understand was Arizona killer Jared Loughner’s favorite movie, Zeitgeist, and in that clip we can easily see that the film claims that Fox News acts as “the men behind the curtain.” Fox is criticized by this film as manipulators of the news and one of the conspiratorial evils of the world.
So, that being the case, how is it possible that the left can continue to claim that Jared Loughner was somehow “influenced” by conservatives, by Fox News, by Talk Radio, by Sarah Palin and those on the right when his favorite movie scaremongered people into a hatred of Fox News and the right?
Further, we understand that Zeitgeist posited that Bush knew that 9/11 was coming, that Bush was part of it. This is further evidence that if Loughner was influenced by anything it was left-leaning progressive ideas far more than conservative ones.
And yet, the Old Media is ignoring all these truths. McCain says:

Bobby Rush always did have a lot of stones. He went from being an outlaw and criminal member of the Black Panthers in Chicago to being a legitimate, elected Congressman from the self-same city. Now Rush is hiding behind both the crime in Arizona and Martin Luther Kin, Jr. in order to push his anti-constitutional gun grabbing agenda.
Yep, a lot of stones.
Rush’s office published a blog post on The Hill’s Congressional blog section for January 16. It isn’t likely that Rush himself wrote the thing, of course, but it is published under his name and carries his imprimatur, so it doesn’t matter who wrote it. What matters is that Rush is using MLK for cover for a gun grab. What matters is that he, like so many other left-wingers, is using Gabrielle Giffords’ shooting to serve his political agenda.

Eric Fuller was not so sensitive as one might think his experience would make him. At a townhall meeting Saturday, an incensed Fuller issued a death threat to local Tea Party leader Trent Humphries.
Fuller is a liberal that has been heard in interviews claiming that Sarah Palin and conservatives are at fault for the Arizona shooting.
Fuller was one of those present in front of the grocery store in Tucson when crazed murderer Jared Loughner began indiscriminately shooting at people after his attempt to kill Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords.

Arizona ‘Memorial’: A Most Disquieting Display

Last night in Arizona someone planned a memorial service and a pep rally broke out. In a wildly inappropriate display of mirth, rock star adulation, screams from the crowd and raucous applause the purported memorial service held at University of Arizona for those that fell at the hands of a crazed shooter earlier in the week went badly awry Wednesday night.
Nothing this gauche has been seen since the classless memorial turned pep rally held for Minnesota Senator Paul Wellstone that got so many in trouble back in 2002.
The tenor of the event lacked propriety throughout even as the speeches themselves were for the most part perfectly alright.
In fact, a whole weird vibe was set at the very beginning of the memorial with pseudo Indian medicine man, Carlos Gonzales. He began the off kilter scene by his pseudo Indian blessing of rocks and trees, northern doors, and… well, whatever he was blessing, anyway. His self-referential promotion was also quite off-putting.

Union Boss With History of Violence Decries Vitriolic Rhetoric of Right

Well, it’s the old “glass houses” story, isn’t it? AFL-CIO boss Richard Trumka weighed in on the criminal shooting in Arizona and naturally he blamed the whole incident on “too much vitriolic, hate-filled rhetoric that we hear on radio and television.” This from a guy who has many times used worse rhetoric to incite violence in his unionizing past. Glass houses indeed.
On the AFL-CIO blog, Trumka wrote:
We must find ways to passionately debate and even disagree with each other without using words that can give unstable individuals an incitement to engage in violent acts.
…We do not know why the shooter targeted Rep. Giffords, or if he was influenced—directly or indirectly—by the outrageous rhetoric that’s become all-too-common in our politics.
But “too much vitriolic, hate-filled rhetoric that we hear on radio and television has demonized public servants and candidates as “enemies” and has made them sounds less than human. In the short run, it may inspire passions and votes. But in the long run, it’s toxic to the survival of rational discussion in our democracy. And it’s not worthy of our great nation.
As Pete List of LaborUnionReports.com reminds us, Trumka’s rhetoric helped inspire stabbings and other criminal actions in his days as a young union organizer. In fact, Trumka was involved in the murder of one Eddie York back in 1993.

Walking Short: The Life and Lies of Sheriff Clarence Dupnik

The obvious villain in the Gabrielle Giffords tragedy is the man who caused it, the very disturbed Jared Lee Loughner. Sadly, though, there have been villains in the response to it, too – many villains. And while it’s hard to make a pick for this Black Hat Award, one man who has certainly distinguished himself is Pima County, Arizona, Sheriff Clarence Dupnik.
As you may know, Dupnik has been busy warning of how speech has consequences while in the same breath blaming conservatives for the actions of Loughner. Now, I don’t blame the sheriff for asking why. It is fine to look for reasons. It is not fine to be reckless and wrong. And it’s a sin when it’s born of indifference to Truth.
To be precise, Dupnik implicates right-wing talk radio – he mentioned Rush Limbaugh – and cable news in the Giffords shooting. Yet a number of obvious things seem to have eluded this man, this supposed professional investigator. For starters, if we’re actually going to analyze the politics of Loughner, we should note that one of his former classmates, Caitie Parker, describes him as a “left wing” “political radical” and “pot head”; moreover, Parker — who had been in a band with Loughner — states that he was a fan of the radical leftist punk-rock band Anti-Flag. Note here that Loughner did, in fact, echo that band’s ideas on his YouTube page. Also note that on that page Loughner had listed as one of his favorite works The Communist Manifesto.

An extreme, left-wing Democrat group calling itself 21st Century Democrats has had the gall to send out an email blast using as a fundraising tool Saturday’s criminal shooting of Representative Gabrielle Giffords in Arizona. Judge John Roll and four others were killed in the incident, one of them a 9-year-old girl, but these Democrats are ignorant enough to be using this incident to try and squeeze donations from its supporters. Some might think the action of 21st Century Democrats is itself a crime — a crime against decency.
The email blast sent out Sunday morning to its supporters tells members that “we don’t know yet” why Jared Loughner shot Gabrielle Giffords but goes on to lay the blame on Sarah Palin and Gifford’s opponent in the past election for using “violent imagery” in his campaign.

It’s been thirty years, and I still miss the classroom. I taught American Political Theory to mostly seniors, Pre-Law or Political Science majors, that long ago. If any of them had submitted a paper as ill-thought-out as Judge Susan Bolton’s decision on the Arizona immigration law, I’d have given them an F, and made them rewrite it from scratch. Here’s why:
The largest point is that this US District Judge ignored the very case that was presented to her for decision. The federal complaint attacked the Arizona law for only one general flaw. It claimed that the state law preempted federal law, and was therefore unconstitutional. It is grossly improper for any judge in any case to go outside the pleadings and decide the case on different grounds, and even worse, on non-existent evidence, than was presented in the courtroom.

With the recent ruling by US District Judge Susan Bolton, a Clinton appointee, blocking the most contentious parts of Arizona law SB1070, we learn two things: One, that the federal government cannot be forced to enforce federal law, regardless of the fact that the law has been brought to legislation by the constitutional process, and two, that today, opportunistic political ideologues who have schemed their ways to power have all but extinguished good government in the United States of America; government that should be exclusively engaged in serving the best interests of the American people.
To be fair, Judge Bolton’s ruling does not end the issue, not by a long shot. In fact, there is a very good chance that the case surrounding Arizona law SB1070 will make it – and in an expedited manner – to the US Supreme Court. This actually bodes well for the American citizen primarily because today the US Supreme Court has a balance that actually gives an edge – even if ever so slightly – to the US Constitution and, thus, the American people. Judge Bolton’s ruling simply put those sections blocked – or deemed unlikely to withstand a challenge in the judicial system, be it from the ACLU, La Raza or the Holder/Obama Justice Department (which is tantamount to the ACLU and La Raza) – on hold until the courts resolve the issues.

Sharron Angle Ad: Nevada’s Property Rates Plummeted Under Harry Reid

Sharron Angle released her newest TV ad slamming Harry Reid for presiding over the falling home values in Nevada.
Over the last few weeks the Angle campaign has seen an influx of new, more veteran campaign wranglers head out to Nevada to help in her campaign.
There have been a lot of complaints just after her primary win that the Angle campaign was reticent to listen to folks outside her own circle and opportunities have been lost to push her message successfully. She’s made some small errors but perhaps this loose campaign is tightening up.
Recently Angle has taken on some more seasoned campaigners. Jerrod Agen formerly of Rudy Giuliani’s campaign signed onto to Team Angle and last month she took on some other more seasoned hands such as John Yobb and other consultants.
Angle is no where near out of the race, though, despite some bumps in her efforts thus far. Polls show she is about even with Harry Reid so she has a lot of time to roar back and capture the seat. Polls showing the two at a tossup is really far worse news for Reid than it is for Angle. For an incumbent to be even with an opponent traditionally augers ill for the incumbent’s chances of re-election.
It would be quite an event if Republicans could “Daschle” the Democrat Majority Leader in the Senate, for sure.

On the heels of news that the Obama administration is suing the state of Arizona over its new anti-illegal immigration law come news that the same treatment is being leveled at DuPage County, Illinois whose policies almost mirror the Arizona law…
Well, that is the headline that should be in the papers today if, that is, the Obama administration actually cared about law instead of only looking for a convenient political target which is all the administration’s focus on Arizona really is. It isn’t about immigration, illegals, the law, or any legitimate thing other than pure partisan politics. Obama thinks he has a great angle with which to pander to the Hispanic vote. That is all he cares about.
As the Chicago Tribune’s David Byrne notes, Obama is being wholly inconsistent with his attack on Arizona.

An Open Letter to Milwaukee City Alderman James Witkowski and His Fellow Aldermen (With the Notable Exception of the Hon. Bob Donovan)
How dare you boycott us, you who have never had thousands of ignorant, poor, opportunistic Canadians pouring into your towns and cities, murdering your farmers and stealing anything else they can get their hands on. How dare you assume we are RACIST? We aren’t racist, you dolts. We have lived as good neighbors to Mexico and Mexicans for hundreds of years. Our friends, our families, our schools, our universities, our workplaces – our whole society here in Arizona – is completely and fully and happily integrated. This isn’t about Americans of Mexican descent it is about Mexicans of Mexican descent, and it infuriates me that you silly, silly people 2,000 miles away would presume to call us racists. We are simply doing what our federal government has refused to do for the last 30 years: we are finally protecting ourselves and our borders with our votes, as we are completely within our rights, human and Constitutional, to do.

Wisconsin Democrat Peggy West says that we shouldn’t accept Arizona’s anti-illegal immigrant law because Arizona isn’t a border state. If it were, West apparently thinks, we could excuse Arizona’s worries over the integrity of its borders. Peggy West is obviously no geography scholar.
As TMJ Channel 4 in Milwaukee reports, West told the crowd at the Milwaukee County Board meeting an interesting tale. “If this was Texas,” West seriously begins, “which is a state that is directly on the border with Mexico, and they were calling for a measure like this saying that they had a major issue with undocumented people flooding their borders, I would have to look twice at this. But this is a state that is a ways removed from the border.”
(Note: video has short ad at beginning…)
Mz West is obviously a wondermous product of our public school system. She even got herself a Dee-gree at an area Kollage, too. And now she sits on the Executive Committee of the Milwaukee Democrat Party and is also the County Supervisor of Milwaukee County’s 12th District.
