Socializing Society By Eliminating The Family

Cass Sunstein, Administrator of the White House Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs, proposes to abolish traditional marriage as a state-sponsored institution.
As many feared, same-sex marriage may become the wedge to destroy the religious and political institutions of marriage and family.
Each new day brings to light additions to the torrent of liberal-progressive-socialist attacks upon the basic social and political institutions of Western civilization and its foundation in Judeo-Christian morality. Reducing marriage to no more than issuance of a civil certificate acknowledging the partnering of any two people is exactly what the Soviet Union did. The aim was, and is under Obama’s New New Deal socialism, to break down lingering vestiges of individual moral responsibility and to supplant them with servility under the supposedly classless socialist political state.

Another of Obama’s Radical Appointees

The Old Media wholly ignored the story, but one of the extremists that Barack Obama appointed as a so-called czar in his government had to step down when the full extent of his un-American radicalism was exposed on the Internet. Obama’s “green czar,” Van Jones, resigned when it was revealed how anti-American his rhetoric was not to mention his membership in a Marxist organization. But Van Jones isn’t the only far leftist that Obama has tried to foist on this country in places of influence.
We’ve been hearing lately about the radical homosexual agenda of Obama’s “safe schools czar,” Kevin Jennings. When he was a school teacher, Jennings once admittedly abetted a sexual relationship between a teenage male student of his and an adult man. He did not report this molestation, but smiled and advised the poor kid to “use a condom.”

Obama Census Bureau To Count Illegal Aliens in Census?

On the website of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) a press release from Obama’s U.S. Census Bureau Director, Robert Groves, can be found. That press release appears to make obvious that the Bureau plans to count illegal aliens in our census. The press release was issued to America’s Hispanic organizations to urge them to help with the coming census.
In that press release, Groves says the following (my bold):
We have the enormous challenge of convincing everyone in the country to participate in the national count - regardless of race, ethnicity or citizenship status. To reach the Latino community, we are counting on community-based initiatives like ya es hora to partner with us in spreading the word that the 2010 Census is easy, important and safe,” said U.S. Census Bureau Director Robert Groves.
Notice that Graves says “regardless of citizenship status.” With this comment it is clear that Graves intends to count illegals in our census.

More Illinois Citizens Live in Poverty Since Year 2000

The Associated Press is reporting that the poverty rate in Illinois has jumped from 10.7 percent in 2000 to 12.2 percent in 2008, the last year for which we have Census Bureau data. That comes out to about 1.5 million Illinois citizens living below the poverty line.
Hardest hit were some of the counties in Northern Illinois in and around the Chicago area.
The drops in income were particularly steep in several northern Illinois counties, DuPage, Kane and Winnebago. For instance, in DuPage County, the median income has declined $10,690 since 2000, from $87,723 to $77,033.
One of the things that made this poverty rate climb is the horrendous business climate that Illinoisans suffer under. In 2008 the Directorship’s Boardroom Guide to State Litigation Climates compiled by the Foundation for Fair Civi Justice ranked Illinois as the state with the worst business climate. In 2009 it ranked second just under Pennsylvania.
Winning the dubious distinction of having the worst business climate in the country is not a way to entice new business to come to the Land of Lincoln to bring the new jobs that Illinois needs to raise its citizens out of poverty.

Sen. Baucus Admits Haste and Lack of Planning on Healthcare

In a September 23 Senate Finance Committee Hearing Senator Max Baucus (D, Montana) was heard uttering a damning quote about the Democrat’s progress on Obama’s nationalization of our healthcare system. In fact it is a frightening quote that should give every single citizen pause whether he is for Obamacare or against.
“We’re doing this all on the fly,” Baucus was heard to say, “so it’s a little bit, makes me a little bit nervous.”
What is so telling about this short quote? Baucus has done no less than admit that the Senate is pursuing this massive enlargement of federal power “on the fly.” The Senator is admitting that they have not thought this through, that they are not taking the time needed to plan this out and consider all the alternatives. Baucus has admitted that Congress is flying by the seat of its pants.

We are coming: The president has more than Glenn Beck to reckon with

There has been a huge surge in the influence of the Glenn Beck Show on Fox News. Beck has become one of the airwaves’ premiere conservatives.

Be gratified that there lives such a patriot among us. There is no doubt about it: Mr. Beck handed America a victory when he almost single-handedly forced a radical communist to resign from the Obama administration.
Personnel is policy
Beck’s nightly program on Fox is to be highly commended. Both Beck and his investigative staff keep “We The People” informed about those with whom President Barack Obama has surrounded himself. Beck has told his audience to judge Obama by the people the president relies on because they share his Marxist ideology — and boy, was he right on this one!
Michael Kent Curtis: Just Another Sold-Out Leftist Professor

Michael Kent Curtis, the Donald Smith Professor of Constitutional and Public Law at Wake Forest University, has not only proven his ignorance of the facts, but he has also shown that truth does not matter a whit to him if it gets in the way of common liberal propaganda. He proved this in his blather in the Houston Chronicle on August 22.
Curtis, just another prosaic left-wing professor infesting an institute of higher learning, started his opinion piece off with an outright lie by claiming that “[O]rganized mobs recently have disrupted public meetings.” By this the lefty prof means the thousands of angry citizens that have shown their contempt for Democrat lawmakers at townhall meetings all across the country are not real. They are but dismissible false fronts for anti-Obamacare groups. This refrain is assumed by such as professor Curtis and his fellow leftists so that they can comfortably ignore the outrage against this socialist takeover of nearly 20% of our economy by Obama’s government bureaucrats. Consequently, this refrain of “organized protests” is the left’s talking point du jour.
But have you noticed that we haven’t seen any proof that the angry Americans that have taken the time out of their lives to confront their federal representatives at townhall meetings are not common citizens acting on their own initiative, but are merely “organized mobs”? Have you noticed that no proof of the purported “organized” nature of the protests has once been presented? Have you noticed that the left has not bothered to detail how these protests were organized, that they have not bothered to try and connect the dots? These leftists simply say it is true and then move on as if their case is self-evident.

By His Own Statistics, Obama Wants Illegal Aliens Covered by Obamacare

In a July interview with Katie Couric, President Obama was asked if “his” plan would cover illegal aliens. He responded with a simple “no.”
To be sure there is language in House bill 3200 that says illegals aren’t covered.
Nothing in this subtitle shall allow Federal payments for affordability credits on behalf of individuals who are not lawfully present in the United States.
But who cannot realize that all it will take is the next Congress to take out the red pen to strike out this little provision so that the government can then begin covering illegals? There is nothing at all keeping any subsequent Congress from doing so as no matter what this Congress does it cannot bind any future Congress.
Representative Lamar Alexander (R, Texas) has even said that, prohibiting language or no, there are so many loopholes in HR3200 that illeglas can easily find government funding for healthcare, anyway.

As the debate over health care reform rages on – and despite the fact that the debate should be over how to provide true health care affordability to all, if in fact the goal of the “overhaul” is genuinely about the good of the downtrodden – we hear one retort from Progressives, Liberals and neo-Marxists, both in government and out: Where is your plan if you don’t like ours? Truth be told, there are several conservative and Republican crafted plans but Madam Pelosi and Mr. Reid won’t entertain them and the agenda-driven mainstream media won’t cover them. But one thing is evident, even to the intellectually challenged. If the goal is truly to provide health care affordability to every American citizen, there are ways to do it without the heavy hand of government.
Most honest Americans agree, our health care system – the system that provides medical service, i.e. doctors, hospitals, clinics, etc. – is the best in the world. It certainly does not need reform or government intervention. If you need proof it comes in the form of the richest and most powerful people in the world coming to the United States for treatment, especially when every other avenue of treatment has been exhausted. To fall prey to the notion that the “health care system is broken,” is to be gullible to a fault.
The cog that isn’t meshing correctly in the machine that includes patients, doctors, hospitals and insurance companies is the insurance company cog. Many in our country would like to see more affordable prices, inclusionary coverage for those of us with pre-existing conditions and security in knowing that if a catastrophic medical event happens to us we won’t be driven to the poor house by increased premiums of unfunded procedures. As our health care insurance system exists today, these desirable elements are not within reach of everyone. But by including a few simple provisions and/or pursuing a few sensible avenues, Americans can have affordable, functioning health care insurance for all without creating a government-run health care entity.

Some Interesting Admissions By WaPost’s Kurtz

In his Washington Post column for August 25, Howard Kurtz sound exasperated, fed up with those moron Americans that dare to have an opinion against Obama’s socialist take over of the country’s healthcare system. Oh, and he felt the need to slam Governor Sarah Palin, too… but what’s new about that? What is unusual, though, is the admission that Kurtz thinks that the Old Media should influence public opinion instead of merely inform readers about the news.
Of course he led with a laugher that is hard to take seriously. His very first few words makes of him a laughing stock.
For once, mainstream journalists did not retreat to the studied neutrality of quoting dueling antagonists.
For once? For once? And, what’s with the claim of studied neutrality? He’s kidding, right? Does Kurtz really expect to be taken seriously with that first line?
Next he goes on to attack Palin for her “death panels” line.
They tried to perform last rites on the ludicrous claim about President Obama’s death panels, telling Sarah Palin, in effect, you’ve got to quit making things up.
But it didn’t matter. The story refused to die.
Well, it refuses to die because it is easy to believe that this president would be first to demand death panels. After all, he was always a consistent vote for infanticide and death panels for babies. Not only that, but we know that Obama has brought back the “death panels” for our military veterans, policies that were stopped by Bush. Palin is far more believable than Obama in this debate.
And now for Howie’s unusual admission.

“It’s like déjà vu all over again,” noted philosopher Yogi Berra is credited with saying. And so it is.
A liberal Democratic president has his heart set on pushing through a proposal strongly unpopular with most Americans. Enjoying substantial Democratic majorities in both the House and the Senate, he intends to win.
So it was in September, 1977 when Jimmy Carter signed the Panama Canal treaties to relinquish United States control. An Associated Press opinion poll conducted that month found that only 29 percent of Americans favored the pact. A solid 50 percent opposed it and 21 percent expressed no opinion.
Just as Barack Obama is determined to shove a government health care program down the throats of his protesting countrymen, Carter did what was necessary to get the Senate to ratify the Panama Canal treaties. He cajoled, he promised, he threatened. It worked.

Obamacare: Quintessential Socialism

The overriding characteristic of President Obama’s National Socialist healthcare is forced equality of consumption, a major step in the direction of egalitarian distribution of income. Emphasis is upon the word forced.
As we see with the widespread town hall protests against the President’s proposed National Socialist healthcare proposals, people do not willingly surrender the fruits of many years’ labor to the government in the name of an undefined abstraction called the common good. Particularly is this true when it is liberal-progressive bureaucrats who decide arbitrarily what constitutes the common good.
In a Wall Street Journal op-ed essay, Martin Feldstein, Harvard economics professor and former chairman of President Reagan’s Council of Economic Advisors, sums up Obamacare: it’s all about the raw power to decide who gets what treatment, while cramming everyone into identical little boxes in order to eliminate any efforts in the direction of individuality. And the bureaucratic mechanism for eliminating individuality is rationing medical care.

Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel has simply changed the way he proposes to ration healthcare.
Dr. Emanuel, the brother of White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel, is Special Adviser for Health Policy to Peter Orszag, the Director of the Office of Management and Budget.
Sara Palin and others annoyed proponents of a National Socialist Healthcare scheme by noting the Dr. Emanuel has opined that rationing medical care is a necessity. In an effort to douse what has become a raging forest fire of disapproval, White House spinmeisters have concocted the following statement from Dr. Emanuel, quoted in the Washington Times:

Empty Cradles, Demographic Destiny and the Death of the West

While the movie My Big Fat Greek Wedding was good cinema, it was also a big fat Hollywood fiction. With Greece’s fertility rate of 1.36 children per woman — well below the replacement level of 2.1 — “big” is not a modifier demographers would associate with today’s Greek families. In fact, a more accurate film might be called My Big Fat Muslim Wedding.
Worse still, Greece is no anomaly. Long ago the cradle of Western civilization and more recently one of its backwaters, it’s now part of a phalanx of Western demographic failures. In fact, while it may seem counterintuitive to those weaned on the stuff of Malthusian nightmares, the West is facing a population implosion of historic proportions. And the statistics are staggering. As I wrote when reviewing the documentary Demographic Winter last year:
. . . the number of children in the world is already declining . . . . Birthrates are now below replacement level . . . in approximately 70 countries; in Western Europe, the figure is 1.38, and in northern Italy and parts of Spain it is below 1. As a result, Europe’s 65-year-olds now outnumber her 14-year-olds, and one German province had to close 220 schools in 2006. Children were present in 80 percent of U.S. households a century ago; that number is now 32 percent.
Although pondering demographic malaise conjures up the image of sterile Western swingers, note that this phenomenon is, in a measure, manifesting itself worldwide. Take Eastern Europe, for example. Russia, with its birthrate of 1.4 children per woman, is experiencing a population decrease of 700,000 a year. With an even lower birthrate of 1.22, some Lithuanian officials are concerned about the eventual disappearance of their population. And this is mirrored in other Eastern European nations; Poland, Belarus, Ukraine, the Czech Republic and the rest are all turning in similar numbers.

Government Rules All it Surveys With House Bill

A fellow named John Lewis has put up on the web a few aspects of House Bill 3200 that raises many a few red flag about the overarching power that the federal government is attempting to accrue unto itself should the so-called “America’s Affordable Health Choices Act of 2009″ pass into law.
Wondering what sort of effects the bill would have on his “freedom as an American,” Lewis identifies some extremely un-American powers that will be suddenly bestowed upon government with this act. At the outset Lewis discovers that this bill will be onerous, indeed and paying for it will fall on every American whether involved or not.
Higher taxes, more borrowing, printing money, cutting payments, or rationing services–there are no other options. We will all pay for this, enrolled in the government “option” or not.
Lewis does an outstanding job pinpointing some of the worst parts of the House bill by excerpting the actual language of the bill and then giving a bulleted, point-by-point explanation of what will occur upon passage.

USA Today Hides Left Wing Sources of ‘Church’ Effort for Min. Wage Push

USA Today is attempting to pass off an effort to push a higher minimum wage law as an effort by “churches” when in reality it is a left wing effort sponsored by ACORN, unions and the extremist group American Progress headed by former Clinton front man, John Podesta.
With a misleading headline and an artfully vague first paragraph, USA Today tries to make this effort seem to be headed up by churches and religious figures. The headline, “Churches push for $10 minimum wage by 2010,” pins this effort squarely on churches even as the first paragraph walks that claim back in an artfully vague way.
Religious leaders and advocates, not satisfied with the 70-cent rise in the federal minimum wage that went into effect on Friday, are calling on congressional leaders to hike it up to $10 by 2010.
Notice how the headline doesn’t quite match up to the “Religious leaders and advocates” of the first paragraph. Notice that it goes from “churches” to “advocates.” We all know that churches and advocates are not necessarily one and the same. And when it comes to left wing “advocates,” actual churches are rarely anywhere involved.
Right in the first paragraph we must realize that it isn’t really “churches” that are involved in this effort but it is more likely the advocates of the first paragraph that is heading this min. wage movement.

In Oregon’s Gov’t Run Helathcare Lobbyists Prioritize Treatment, Not Doctors

The Independence Institute created an awesome new video based on original research to show the awful effects of health care rationing under Medicaid in Oregon, and how Obama Care would do the same thing.
As it happens, each year politicians get together to decide what illnesses will get priority funding. Naturally, once the politicians (not doctors, but politicians) decide what “deserves” to be funded by Oregon’s government run healthcare system, the lobbyists flood in and begin to agitate for their own priorities.
The result is that often times serious illnesses end up pushed down this list as the political needs of lobbyists get pushed up to be funded first.
“In less than 90 seconds the new video highlights the upside-down priorities of Oregon’s Medicaid system. Lobbying groups have used the political process to push coverage for special-interest causes like substance abuse and weight loss treatment ahead of treatments for some kinds of cancer on the priority list.”
THIS, folks, is the only and obvious outcome of turning our medical care into a political football just like Obamacare does.

There is a lot of invective being flung around by liberals and conservatives these days regarding the each other’s motivations. We hear accusations of “un-American”, unpatriotic, astro-turfing, the police accused of acting stupidly, etc. All of these invectives are nothing more than an attempt to sidestep the legitimate concerns of people asking questions instead of properly showing leadership by addressing the concerns. It seems some people confuse leadership with salesmanship. A leader who expects people to follow them must engender trust for that to happen; clearly hurling invectives at the followers doesn’t engender trust. A salesman is expected to narrowly focus on the sales points of the product they want to sell; a leader has no such latitude. A leader’s responsibility is to explore both the positives and negatives. It’s a pretty incompetent leader who thinks they should horn swoggle people in order to persuade them. Incompetence combined with arrogance many times is mistaken for malice.
Whether it is the Federal Budget, Cap & Trade or Healthcare Reform, these issues are far more complex than the sales points and wrongly assumes everyone affected by these issues understands all the details. One of the biggest mistakes a leader can make is to assume everyone understands what the issues are, what the details are and then assign a negative motivation to those who don’t see things the same way. Given the inappropriate comments from Nancy Pelosi and President Obama towards those who disagree with their solutions and characterization of it they display their incompetence in engendering trust. They may be frustrated with the dissent, however, it is their failure the leadership to clearly articulate what they want to do and transparently write the language before Congress to implement their plans. You cannot blame people for misunderstanding your plans if you are not willing to answer their concerns by transparently CHANGING the language in the bill before Congress to address those concerns. It is not an act of transparency to presume upon people by saying, “trust me.”

Journo Asks Why Can’t ‘Progressives’ Win?

The L.A.Times’ Dan Neil is confused. He thinks that the so-called progressive movement is right on all the issues, but he just cannot understand why they can’t win the public debate, especially on healthcare. Neil laments that they have all the “English majors” on their side but cannot win “any war of words.” Just what is going on here, he wants to know? He’s so frustrated that he took to his keyboard to ask these questions in a Pittsburgh Gazette article from August 9.
In his piece, Neil wonders why the “progressives” are so inept at debate and cannot convince the lowly voters of the merits of their argument even though they are obviously right? He goes on to bemoan that the “progressives” are trying, but are just too darn nice, too “anti-inflammatory” in their rhetoric. He concludes that it’s time for the “progressives” to take off the gloves and fight dirty like the “insurance companies” have been doing.
Now, Mr. Neil seems like a smart fella. All his words are spelled correctly, and all. But for all his moaning and gnashing of teeth about why the “progressives” just can’t seem to win he misses the elephant in the room. “Progressives” can’t win because they are liars. And, as his blather in the Gazette shows, Neil is a liar, too.

Cash for Clunkers, Gatesgate, Plus A Special Treat

Let’s begin with the easiest subject to understand – economics. Last week two important events happened. The Cash for Clunkers program shut down when it burned through money planned for four months, in four days. And based on a previously passed federal law, the minimum wage went up again.
Now, the two programs are different in size. The minimum wage only increased by 70 cents an hour; whereas, the Clunker program is/was giving away up to $4,500 per transaction. So, the change was both larger and faster in the latter instance. I was on the road on family business and saw a hand-lettered sign in a Tennessee Tasty-Freeze that said, “Prices have increased due to wage increases.”
The bottom line is simple, and every student who was awake during the first day of Economics 101 knows it. When the price of anything goes up, people buy less of it. For sure, assorted studies by economists hired by labor unions have produced “academic” studies showing that raising the minimum wage does not cost anyone their jobs. But no honest studies support that conclusion.
